Mom and son Broadway show?

Anonymous
OMG me and my teen LOVED Hadestown! It is so interesting how tastes are different! I love the arts!

That being said, I might go with Spelling Bee, off Broadway (cute and funny) and Stranger Things. That combo would be amazing if you can swing two. I saw Oh Mary and kind of got it, kind of not--probably would not recommend for a 19 year old. Book of Mormon is well done but a little uncomfortable if you are OK with that.

I'm one of the Mormons who still doesn't understand how normal people think it's OK to support mocking someone's religion for fun. But knock yourselves out.

Most religious beliefs are worthy of mockery.

Agreed...I found this in a random article. I took my teen boys to Book of Mormon and they thought it was hilarious. The foreign stuff is a lot about colonialist privilege, not really about Mormonism. It could be redone to be about Evangelical missionaries pretty easily.

"Although it was written to poke fun at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stone reiterated that the "Book of Mormon" was not meant to just mock Mormonism, but religion in general, calling his show, "an atheist's love letter to religion."

"Anybody's religion, to an outsider, it's just as goofy," he said. "I don't think either of us think Mormonism is any goofy-ier than Hinduism or Christianity, from an outsider's point of view.""

But it's not "Book of Veda" and FYI - we're Christian. Again, I think it says a lot about people who want to support this with their $$.

No. This is boring. I haven’t seen OM, but I’d see that or Maybe Happy Ending, And Juliet, or Book of Mormon.

Oh Mary is a very particular type of raunchy camp that might not be for everyone. I probably wouldn't recommend it to a mom and son who haven't seen a lot of theater.

LOL. Mmmkay. I've seen a lot of theater. It sucks.

Six is also funny. Some casts are better than others though.

Mormonism is an offshoot of Christianity based on a tall tale from a 19th century fraudster. No better than Scientology.

We are a big broadway family (also not fans of Hadestown). I would say try The Outsiders or The Lost Boys with a 19 year old male.

I'd go with Outsiders or Play that Goes Wrong.

Also not comedic, but I would also to suggest Outsiders.

Interesting! Do you think it’s because the music is different than other shows?

When are you going? Maya Rudolph is in OM until July 5– I think that would be fun to see. I also don’t think you can go wrong with Operation Mincemeat.
