Thoughts on Dr Taylor’s school closure video

Where’s the video that says we didn’t build enough snow days into the calendar so the board and superintendent resigned?

Special Education staff are equally as critical of this video.

I think these posters who are all “it’s all in good fun” etc…simply don’t pay any attention to the BOE at all and have no interest in what major decisions they make that directly effect our children’s education. That’s the only conclusion I can come up with as to why this would be at all amusing to someone.

With the caveat that I hope these aren’t super expensive to produce, I like them. Yes there is a lot wrong with MCPS. The audience for this is the kids and they love it, and it’s good to model a healthy amount of fun with all the heaviness around us.

I’m a parent and totally agree. Didn’t watch but hate all the videos

As an employee, it’s not only the cost (which is probably minimal) but also the amount of time it took away from actually dealing with the issues that staff see every day. He appears to be more worried about being a superintendent for the community and not for the staff he has working for him.

Almost like he doesn’t care how stressed some parents are about what’s going on and is just trying to be the “cool superintendent”. It’s kind of gross.

Also it was so bad I had second hand embarrassment but that’s really the least of it.

I bet you're fun at parties

Yeah well, I don’t think it’s funny to consistently say there is no money to fix schools that are falling apart but there is plenty of money for this crap.

Personally, I'm a parent and I appreciate this levity. Not everything needs to be so serious. Please also tell me that the "very serious things going on with MCPS right now" is not about the boundary study. Because if it is making you so stressed, you probably need to seek some help outside of DCUM.

And, "plenty of money for this crap"? This was not a feature film that cost millions to make, hence why you feel it was so bad you were embarrassed by it. Go meditate or smoke a joint, whatever your vibe is.

It doesn’t matter if it was $5 to make, not the point and still too much considering the circumstances.

You definitely sound like someone who smokes plenty of joints in front of your kids though-what an excellent example you are setting for them. You are probably one of the reasons this entire area smells like weed 24/7 now-disgusting.

DP- who actually gets this defensive and worked up? Embarrassing.

If they are it’s offensive as many of our schools don’t have good equipment or any at all.

But he is the superintendent for the community, not just the staff.

As a parent, I don’t care but they are fun for the kids.

Taylor’s main character syndrome is getting out of hand. If you want to have fun, include the people that matter, the teachers and students.

A lot of people have personal animus against Taylor. He is dismissive of there people's point pof view and input. He always things he is right. And he can be insulting at times in explaining why he thinks he is right.

So much time for that. How will farms students geteals tomorrow? Did he address that? Hopefully those families know how they can get food for the next two or more days. So Jones was hired to be his security? Fairfax County school Superintendent Reed got security personnel. MCPS Super got Jones. If you want to try to rap, switch careers.
