| For the doubters out there: I did a fall of freshman year study abroad program 35 years ago at a school that has been doing this for 50 years. While there are always some here and there who hate it, the vast majority of kids I knew who did it absolutely loved it and would do it again. More and more schools offer it now but the programs vary wildly. My school offered it's own programs so you were with other students from the same school and arrived on campus with kids who had done either the same program or a similar one. I would recommend it less for students who have to find their own fall programs as I am sure that is more isolating. |
Knowing what I know now, that’s exactly what I would do. - Parent for former spring scholar. |
I just love posts like this. Parents who are certain that their experience from 35 years ago is completely relevant to kids today. |
Way to miss the point completely. The point was that more and more schools are doing this but that schools who run there own programs seem to be more successful than those that farm kids out to other programs and then bring them to campus. But you know, take what you want from it. |
