I wish AI can submit my energy calculations for building permit. At best, AI / Excel will do the calculation but I still have to figure out what kind of light fixtures I'm going to use, what kind of light levels I want in the room (is it for surgery? romantic dinner?), space them in the room so it's somewhat evenly distributed and doesn't look offensive, enter the fixture's specs (because regulations keep shifting about what data is required in the submission). And then there are the numbers for all the heat/air conditioning appliances in the build and those keep shifting around because there isn't enough room to squeeze them in the ceilings and closets and every few months mitsubishi changes the specs and sizes.... one would think AI could take care of this. Well, I'm glad excel will calculate but I still have to plug in the numbers after deciding which fixture is the least offensive to the eye. |
So you are the frequent copy and paste AI poster eh? AI will be paired with robots (already is in some cases) to do more jobs than you can obviously imagine. |
| There’s always law enforcement. |
| AI can’t do my job. |
UBI would be government regulation, hon. Whatever AI may be in the future, it's not taking anyone's jobs now. Companies laying off "because AI" are lying. |
I occasionally do post AI and note it as such. I posted an AI summary of the book Moral Mazes in the Jobs and Careers section. I liked the book a lot but it's quite scholarly and I find that people rarely read books I recommend. So I wanted the OP to understand what the book author's main points were. The free AI summary cost some real resources somewhere but the OP and I were entertained for free. In this case, AI was superior because it's been a decade since I read the book. But this is not worth my paying for. I also used AI in a college forum thread where someone asked what the Top 10 colleges talked about on the site were. This would be a laborious, time intensive task to do for real. Even with just a sample of posts. I quite clearly posted an AI summary based on a Google prompt. People didn't agree with the results. They were plausible results but unverifiable. That is also typical of a lot of AI. It has "surface validity". But can be badly wrong. And again, I wouldn't pay for AI to do this for me. I am not a frequent copy paster. At home, I just have Google. At work, I have access to institutional CoPilot and internally-developed corporate AI. At times these tools just can't do the job. I'm also aware of a bunch of processes that people would like AI to handle but AI can't. It so obviously can't that it's not worth starting the IT projects. I said that up-thread. I particularly dislike AI summaries in the Travel section here. To me that's worthless. I'm looking for a needle in a haystack, rare find type of recommendation. Not a boring list of what's in a destination city. |

AI sucks sweaty balls
-A human |
A.I. will definitely take over most cops jobs. Cameras, drones, etc. |
| This is TRUMP's economy. We went from a GOLDILOCKS economy under Biden to a NO GROWTH, NO JOBS economy. It's not AI. It's PISSING OFF THE WORLD (50% tariff on India/Brazil, threats against China..that's almost 50% of world's population YOU PISS OFF). With DOGE, DC area's job prospects have been decimated while PALANTIR that doesn't produce ANYTHING (No bullets, guns) only Databases (new powerpoint) rakes in the $$$$. |
Wait until you hear about the advancements in A.I. sex bots and dolls. It's crazy! They are even making bots with human tissue wombs that they are trying to use to carry a test-tube baby to term. Women will be made obsolete by A.I. and robotics.

It makes sense that this is where they are putting the AI effort, instead of curing cancer or poverty. Basically tracks along with human history. I think we’re just starting to see the beginning of AI taking over entry level jobs. AI is close to being able to do what a not very good college intern does, so if it keeps improving it will soon be able to do what a standard 22 year old can do. But if we replace all the entry level folks with AI, we’ll never have the people trained to do the harder jobs. I think CS is seeing some of this, and it may start happening in things like labs which use low level people to do data analytics that AI will be able to do. And accounting I bet as well. |
Too much money in treating that, so they will never allow the public to know a cure/cures. Poverty is a personal thing, not a disease that spreads or can be aquired. Meaningless term overall. |
DP, but no, it would be a corporation thing. |
