| Were you exposed to teen magazines in the 90s? Also, tabloid/gossip magazines used to estimate celebrities' weight and shame any that dared to be in public with any visible fat on their bodies. It was part of our culture and it was very unhealthy. |
This. I do exercise, but not to lose weight and most of my exercise at this point is focused on putting on muscle because I'm middle aged and I want to be healthy and active as long as possible. I do think is wild how many of you apparently have your BMIs memorized. Why? I thought BMI was a somewhat debunked metric anyway because for instance it treats weight from fat and muscle identically, and fails to account for certain body types. I thought we'd shifted to better metrics for measuring health (like looking at cardiovascular endurance and strength) and were fixating less on weight which can vary so much by person depending on how you are built. |
Oh is this OP the man poster who was asking why women add inches to their real height? |
| What's a bmi?? |
| The extra 10lb goes straight to my belly and add 80 to my LDL. |
Only you said overweight. Nobody said overweight. |
Gross |
Heroine chic |
| Oops heroin chic |
Where do you find these metrics |
| As if I can choose to direct all the extra weight to just my boobs and butt. 🙄 |
+1. I'm 5 ft 6 and weigh 121 pounds. I eat whatever I want, don't exercise and rink moderately. I also eat a lot of candy. I've never been on a diet in my life. I'm just lucky. I usually don't say anything about this to other women because they get snotty. |
| So interesting the number of thin women commenting that they don’t exercise despite exercise being tied to overall health and well-being. Why don’t you exercise??? |
Maybe they are walking around in the mall, gardening or work as nurse/fedex delivery gal. Exercise doesn’t need to be in the gym. |
I'm in this picture and I don't like it. |
