Kindergarten sped teacher returning advice

OP here. I had professional development day on Monday, yesterday, my first day. I have about 15 students on my caseload. I don't do any academic achievement testing. I have two paraprofessionals who mostly work with the students in the regular education class. I have my own classroom. I work with the students in my classroom on mostly reading small group. I shadow one of the other sped kindergarten teachers tomorrow.

I've read through my student IEPs.

What surprised me is the problem of students wandering off or running away. I have never heard of that. I also have students who are non verbal.
