Most Social LACs for for Smart Athletes

Middlebury

Back in my day, there were kids who played both hockey and lacrosse. One guy in my classes played both and soccer. And was amazing in all three!

Frankly, I'd rather be in the middle of nowhere than Worcester, Mass.

I second this - I know a few lacrosse players that went to Midd and loved it.

With respect to NESCACs, Colby and Hamilton appear.

Friendly is obviously a subjective term. An extroverted athlete is going to have a different take on whether or not a school is friendly than an LGBTQ+ thespian or a D&D DM micribiology major. If a school is athlete heavy, then stats comprised primarily of that group saying it's friendly aren't helpful to everyone.

It's a beautiful campus. Also Worster isn't as bad as people lead me to blieve, it has a good restaurant, bar theater and museum scene; but in reality, most college kids never spend much time in the town where their schools are located (obviouslsly there are excpetions, especially colleges that are indistinguishable from the city they are in, like NYU, etc.).

All of them? You kid is in the easiest category of kid to find a fit.

Some mentioned Union - it is D1 for hockey and really good - I think they won the national championship a few years ago. They were D3 until about 20-25 years ago.

If your child is looking to play varsity at the schools then there is the whole recruitment process which might make the decision for you. Different schools are more competitive at different sports.

I agree with Middlebury as a good option. Also depends on what type of "social" you want. Wesleyan is social in a different way than Middlebury is - both great places but draw a different crowd.

Potentially recruited in one but wants at least club level play. Wants to be at a school where other kids like sports in general. Work hard party hard (within reason) environment.

Be very, very careful what you’re asking for here.

“Within reason” is doing a LOT of work in your post.

At the “most social” LACs, there’s a very hardcore party scene, esp in lax/hockey scenes.

Whether you mean to or not, what you’re asking for is places with tons of morning drinking, puke-n-rally, etc., etc.

Nonetheless, Hamilton appears on this list of LGBTQ-friendly schools:

St. Lawrence University is ice hockey heaven. Lacrosse as well. Ice hockey is D-1.

It would be helpful to know which schools you are referring to here.
