DH thinks portieres look tacky. I disagree. I love this look. What does the majority of the area think?

You can get that same “holographic material” in non-holographic. You can also get it in many different patterns. It’s fairly cheap on Amazon so if there is one you think you’d like, trying it isn’t much cost to you.

I hate it. My daughter added the holographic material to her window. But I wouldn't put it in a main living area.

Not a fan but it doesn’t matter what I think. Your house and your DH.

What is this trend of overdressing everything? Curtains over shades. Rugs over carpeting. Throw pillow over cushions. Closets inside closets. People, you are being tricked into buying things that don’t serve any purpose and just fill up your house with crap.

It seems influenced by the Victorian era...we have a library ( small) that opens to the family room and I can see the last owner had a bar across the top and hardware on the side of the wall for this look. I have not put anything there...it could work but I agree it is a bit fussy, and they will be dust collectors.

I never would have bought a house where HOA required a glass door panel people could see through and break and step through.

They look bad, but if you need privacy, and don't want to but a door in, go for it.

Your bed mattress is a cushion. Do you put a pillow on it?

I have a very well decorated house and am up to date on what’s in style- I don’t like it. It also looks like the bottom of the drape would get dirty easily.

We did contact paper that looks like cut glass but not rainbow or holographic. Works for us. But my ILs have shutters on their sidelights and that looks nice too.

I grew up in a home with this, but the doors were all glass and it helped with drafts/privacy at night. I didn't think anything of it but it was a nice nightly ritual w my family, drawing the door drapes, putting the city to bed, then going to bed ourselves.

Make a decision. Have glass or don't.

They sell all kinds of that paper. Mine look like hazy glass.

The last two are ugly. I like the first few but they seem pointless.
