I like Flor. Like in that movie Spanglish. Although people wouldn't be able to roll the rrrrr and then it would become Floor.

Love Florencia.

OP, how about some nice Argentine-Italian names for your consideration: Marianela, Valeria, Daniela, Romina, Alessandra, Luciana, Delfina, Nicola, Francesca, Analia, Paola.

Florentina and Florencia don't do it for me. I like some old fashioned names though--Vera, Frances, Imogene.

OP here, never thought about the food reference. . .

Might have to with a completely different first name and settle on Alice or Florence as a middle. *Sigh* I had a boys name all picked out too!

Go for it, OP, if you like it. It's funny how taste in names has changed over the years. I used to think of Alice as a very ugly old lady name. But I like it now. Same with all the Emmas, Olives, Adelaides, etc. I'm not a huge fan of Florentina, but do like Tina (maybe again it's my age).

So true. There's another thread about Eleanor and most people love it, although it's a total old lady name to me

Maybe you could use the boy name you picked out for #2 esp. if it is something like Shannon, Kim, Courtney, etc. You could still use it even if it is a traditional male name with Florentina or Alice as middle names. I have a friend with a male first name and Ann as her middle name. She makes sure to put "Ann" on her resumes and applications.

I know a Florencia -- i think it's a beautiful name. Alice is so lovely and elegant.

What about Fior? I think it's Italian.

Names such similar to Flo remind me of my period - Aunt Flo.

I actually know a Florentina. She was a former high school student of mine and I think she was Columbian. . .

What about names that start with F (or A) or names that share the same meaning as Florence (or Alice)?

I think Florence Alice (or vice versa) sounds a little weird b/c both names sound too similar in the ending.
