We loved Yale and Rice.
MIT was underwhelming.
Surprised that I liked Bates more than Colby or Middlebury. It seemed like such a friendly place.
Loved William and Mary.
Completely turned off by the area around Trinity (CT). Liked the Middlebury campus but not the town. I thought Williamstown was more vibrant.
We didn't at all although we really wanted to! It just seemed very depressing and frankly run-down. Tour guide didn't seem to like the school herself which didn't help. |
Didn't love the UNC campus, the feel at Richmond wasn't positive for us. Liked Wake, Elon, William and Mary.
Our kid disliked Northwestern (except for the lake view) but loved Chicago. And disliked Duke (felt too southern) but loved Columbia. Not what we were expecting.
Georgetown is a trash strewn run down dump.
Looks just like a prison. |
We were surprised but found UGA to feel huge - taking the tour bus for the tour made the campus seem un-walkable and overwhelmingly big. Crossed it off our list.
Same, OOS. Beautiful campus, lovely location, nice student body. |
Vassar and Brown. We are pretty far left but felt it was too much at both. Kids were too odd for our kid - we know a bunch of very normal, mainstream kids who have gone to Brown recently, but that type seemed hard to find. My kid is not a partyer but he wanted others who like sports, pop culture, and other mainstream things. Met very few of them.
Did not like NYU- no real campus or sense of community. Same with GWU.
My kid strongly disliked Northeastern, Virginia Tech and Washington & Lee.
