Maybe your kid's school wouldn't have had to cut those course offerings if everyone had filled out the form. |
Lol, imagine being SO mad at somebody saying you might have some.privilege. Yes military life can be insanely hard. But, military also gets housing paid for, can retire and get pensions after just 20 years of service and then go on to get a whole other paycheck, can often afford to ahve trailing spouses, etc etc etc. Imagine being SO mad that you would take away funding from kids. Man, the world we are living in...the politics, the divisiveness, it's just gone too far. |
Or you're annoying school admin who call you up or stop you when you're picking up your kids. I've had several conversations where they said i was required to fill them out. Not sure what contract i signed where I agreed to fill out these BS forms. When FCPS doesn't have data breaches I might consider filling one out.until then screw FCPS |
In years past, FCPS received c. $3M in impact aid from the federal government. This is $3M that FCPS then has available to educate your child. If it does not get the $3M from the feds it either (1) cuts services like Latin offered to your child or (2) raises your taxes so it can offer services. In the meantime, other school districts in the country without petulant parents are filing to get their impact aid, which then makes you wonder why schools in “flyover” states can have nice buildings. |
$3,000,000/181000 students = $16.57 per student. FCPS cost per student $20,940. What an impact, so many new school buildings! |
| Is this the first year it asked about Federal worker parents? This is my third year filling it out and I don't remember seeing that in previous years. |
That's the point of the question, FCPS has made it clear that they prioritize having the boy in the girls locker room over Federal funding, so why bother with the forms? They aren't getting the money. As for the privacy issue, they are just asking where you work, I always put the HQ address, they don't check. |
| It’s crazy that you guys are complaining so much about a form that is essentially requires a checkbox, the name of the government, organization, and your signature. I mean the whole thing it is filled out in about 10 seconds. |
Yep. The internet is the downfall of our society. |
No, it's always asked about civilian employees who work on federal property. It's not asking for all civilians be reported; only those who work in one of the specified locations. |
Mind-boggling how so many parents don’t understand this. I know a military connected parent who refuses to fill out these things because of the transgender bathroom issue. But has three kids all in speech therapy. |
| If it's not legally required for my child to attend school, then I'm not filling it out. They don't need to know where I work. F them. |
Based on the above explanation, then where anyone works is irrelevant. FCPS can certainly figure out where federal property is within its borders without thousands of parents filling out a form. |
But we aren’t in the military or any of the situations on the form so why do I have to fill it out every year? Nothing applies to us, same for thousands of others. |
If FCPS were smart, then they would have DOD turn any local on-base schooling over to DODEA, which exists solely to operate schools on military bases (some DoDEA sites are CONUS, and many more are OCONUS). This both would be better for FCPS (alleged cost savings) and also better for the military students. DoDEA understands the needs of military kids much better and is much more supportive of those families needs. |
