Arlington has proactively had individual discussions with families of current trapped players about this year’s placement and next year’s expected placement after the SY transition. Silence from other clubs.

I think the hardest decisions are kids who fall after 8/1 but would be playing “down” a graduation year.

As a club you'd never do this because it would screw the player up when it comes to recruiting. If they cant make the A team they'd be put on the B team with players their grade.

This doesn’t screw up recruiting. A competent club gets their players committed. You are all so easily tricked.
The PP is a known troll that is trying to force GY into soccer to protect his DD. So what seems like advice, threats and wishcastimg is merely his own fears rising to the surface. ARL and ECNL already said to play on age unless you are a superstar and can play up. Done deal.

This was very poorly written and creates additional questions.

They would have been better off saying nothing.

Here's another one. They say grade in school does not determine registration. But in the next sentence they call out "a child held back a year in school, will not be impacted" Arent you just saying the same thing twice. Also using the words not impacted make it seem like somehow players held back a year are in some way ok. When reality they'll still be forced to play up on a team with players their age.

Q: Is registration based on your grade in school?

A: No it is still based on your date of birth to determine the age group you will play. A child held back a year in school, will not be impacted.

Ok fine. Are you really complaining about the language and can't just check the matrix. Do you really not have enough common sense to determine that if your kid has been kept back academically, they will not be able to play with their friends in the same grade? WTF is wrong with you people?!?!

Did you really need to even mention held back players?

Put yourself in a college coaches shoes and remember that most programs have 100s of players reaching out to play on their team.

Would you choose players playing on teams that are their grade in school?

or

Would you choose players playing on teams that are a grade down from their grade in school?

The problem with playing down a grade is their ability to play against players their grade and older in college comes into question.
Doesn't screw up recruiting because college is beyond puberty. So it is all good and always smart to play with your age group. Clubs won't let you play up anyway.

Oh good the hall monitor is back. I thought for sure that you got yourself banned.

Just an FYI this guy wants GY Showcases. This is where players 1-2 years older (up to 36 months older) will be allowed to play down on the team that you paid for when you play in front of college coaches at Showcases.

This makes no sense and clubs will do whatever players and parents want if theyre good enough.

Holding a child back a year doesn't have an impact on them because the groups are created by birthdate only meaning grade is irrelevant.

GY showcases and grades getting involved in age groups are a no go. Rules are sticking to birthdates only.

Yes, this is how top club teams work.

Why do you think clubs go through all the hassle of Talent IDs? They know that certain players are game changers and it's just how it is.

These are the players that play on the top teams and these are the players that decide which top teams they want to play on.

Agree that GY Showcases are complete BS.

Disagree that clubs wont group players by grade after switching to SY. Especially as they get older and start getting recruited to play in college.

I think a lot of clubs are hesitant to do very much because doing anything basically admits a big change is coming and that opens up discussions of player placements (etc.) that they would rather not have right now (and if they have to have them, they will just BS their way through them).

I think most clubs will be doing planning in the background, i.e., looking at rosters and figuring out who is impacted and what age groups are impacted more than others, etc. Then looking at their second team rosters and IDing Q4s who may be 1st team ready. From that, they should be able to go into tryouts knowing where they are strong and where they need to recruit. And, of course, quietly trying to recruit away players from other clubs.

I would take the best players that write me e-mails and would watch the players that write me emails.

So you're saying the players playing down a grade would be instantly discounted because they're playing at a lower level than players that are playing with their grade in school.

Yes this is exactly what I said would happen.
