Nope. Freedom isn’t free. It will only get worse if they win.

What do you mean if they win? Do you understand that Dems control nothing? Just what do you think we win by keeping the government "shut down"? (It's not shut down FYI it's just Feds don't get paid.) Healthcare premiums are going to skyrocket and people will be left without insurance when they can't afford the premiums. We cannot stop it.

The Republicans win if the Democrats capitulate. Try are not going to do squat to fix the situation. And the abusive relationship based on extortion of the average citizen continues. It’s a risk, but here we are. Like any skilled extortionist, the insurance companies expect to be paid— by the consumer, or by the government.

I don't consider it capitulation. More red state citizens will be negatively impacted. The new premiums are coming out whether govt is open or closed. There is nothing Dems are doing that will change it.

Oh shut up already

Nope. Lots of people already hurting out there and Trump keeps on dropping s*** on them.

Assume this won't end until sometime around Thanksgiving, maybe.

And so many feds out there who are being forced to work with no pay will eventually not be able to afford food or the gas to get to work.

Do you understand it would take only 5 senators to change their vote to reopen government? There is no freaking way most people can hold out until Thanksgiving. I can't hold out until Halloween. Today we were sent a letter that we can use for to request extra time to pay rent or mortgage. That's a joke. Banks are not interested in your stupid letter.

You realize that even if the government reopens, the CR is only until Thanksgiving.

Senate Republicans do not need the Democrats. They control the senate and can rule change to do away with the filibuster with only republican votes. They only need a simple majority and they have it.

This is absolute BS. According to reporting in The Hill, there are votes for the CR but the Senators in question are terrified of being criticized by the base on social media and not being able to raise money. Federal workers are being used by the Dems, too. They don’t care about us, our families, our well being, or our stress levels - we’re just a bargaining chip. No character, no principles, no leadership, just fear of being seen as weak.

They all suck. They have no respect for their own countrymen. They’re not people with any heart and soul who want to do good. That said, this is still a young country. Unless you’re in a minority group that faced true oppression, most Americans haven’t had to literally fight for the right to exist since the Revolutionary and later, Civil Wars. Other countries have been repeatedly sliced and diced for centuries. They’ve been there, done that. Now their royalty are tabloid fodder and their politicians get votes of no confidence when they screw up.

The Dems are being short sighted, because what is really going on is that Congress is losing the power of the purse. Long term, this is going to be a much bigger issue than ACA subsidies. Dem think they are pushing back against OMB but really they are giving the Executive Branch more power.

Republicans are gleefully celebrating inflicting as much pain as possible on federal workers and idiots like you are still saying the democrats are the problem.

Senate republicans could pass a CR immediately by doing away with the filibuster, but they don’t because of their own self interest.

House republicans could return to Congress and try to work together on a deal with democrats but they don’t because they’re all down on their knees gobbling Trump’s knob.

Trump is literally making your life a living hell and you’re whining about the democrats trying to get lower healthcare costs for people. Meanwhile your healthcare is subsidized by the taxpayers.

Get a grip.

I'm not the person you're responding to, but Rs aren't here to govern. Don't expect anything from them. Fine that Democrats tried something but they don't have the numbers to control anything, so time to stop tilting at windmills.

I know some staffers read this board (and also aren’t being paid). Please tell your members that frustration is building rapidly.

Bad take. After the midterms it will be a whole different ball game. But that will be too late for families who will lose their health insurance when the cost goes up by five figures.

And that some feds still support the Dems’ fight. I’m one of them.

I don’t expect anything but lies from the Republicans. Which is exactly why the democrats cannot fold.

Ideally, We the People, not DOGE, should be the once clawing back the money that was wasted and abused (see Argentina’s American windfall) and making sure it goes towards healthcare.

It’s impossible to predict with confidence but I think by early November the pressure of multiple missed paychecks for enough feds, ATC and TSA and other airport worker sickouts and/or ACA premium increase notices will be enough for a deal to be struck that gives both sides the ability to claim they won (R’s get a clean CR passed and D’s get the “framework” announced of a deal on ACA subsidies). Feds will also get back pay. It will take longer than everyone wants but it will happen eventually.

Yes. Multiple things will happen soon. People will find out what their health care premiums will be. Pretty much everyone will be impacted one way or another. People who never had difficulties before will struggle to afford their typical Thanksgiving plans — both the meals and travel. Many of those same people will realize the impact of Trump’s tariffs coupled with corporate greed on pretty much everything connected with their holiday celebrations — especially Christmas gifts, meals and travel. Large numbers of voters will realize that they’ve been lied to. At least some of them will press their Republican representatives (especially the 2 year term Representatives) to explain why their America First tax dollars are being spent on airplanes and Argentina. Either the Republicans will see the light re: Healthcare or there will be violence of some sort from MAGA.

Obviously these are just my unsupported opinions, but Winter brings with it hefty expenses. At least some of the people who voted for Trump because of egg prices are going to be furious and possibly desperate soon.

tldr: Late November/early December.
