Can you name a show like it that is realistic? West Wing? Nope. Any cop show? Nope. Any lawyer show? Nope. All the Grey's Anatomy medical drama crap? Nope.

It is TV. Fiction. It is confined to a limited number of episodes and isn't intended to be realistic.

People I know in the medical field say The Pitt is the most realistic show they've ever seen.
Since I have no clue about what really goes on behind the scenes in diplomatic relations, and no one to ask, I enjoy this in blissful ignorance.

I feel like I just don't understand the concept of this show. It is entirely talk-based, so little action or anything happening at all, and the dialogue is mostly not great.

Hal is so annoying.

I love him. I find his wife annoying.

Agree. She’s so hot and cold and mean to him. But I do like their chemistry. Good casting.

You have to love dialogue to enjoy this show. It's in the same vein as West Wing

The dialogue is not good though, it's not clever banter at all.

It is about foreign relations and politics , not wrestling or NASCAR

Are you male?

Is she kind of bony/too thin? I wonder if men find her sexy?

I thought her first love interest (the black British diplomat) was SO sexy!!

Kerri Russell is very petite.

No one here mentioned Aidan Turner- the new lover. He is from Poldark and Rivals fame.

Did you see all those stunning interiors where that dialogue unfolds? Who needs action when the setting is that spectacular.
It totally aligns with having a female showrunner. She’s the new Nancy Meyers, but elevated.

I like the dialogue well enough, though it's not Aaron Sorkin level (West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip). I don't love that Keri's character is so intense and up and down all the time. She's a lot. Her husband gets into professional scrapes constantly, even though he's loyal to her and wants her to stay. No wonder they have difficulties. The British PM is played so well, and he and his wife are such entertaining characters. He has the best lines, along with Eidra Parks, the CIA head of mission.

+1

Keri’s character is really extra. Basically completely unlikeable.

Does it get any better? Should I go back and try again? I am looking for something good to watch and wanted to like this but didn’t….

I think it's gotten better each season.
Also, I love seeing Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford on screen together again.

This. I squeed loudly enough that I had to try to explain why to my kids.

Is anyone else wondering how they get Keri Russell to look younger in the flashback scenes? Is it my imagination or does her face seem slimmer or more contoured in the flashback scenes and fuller in the present day scenes. What sort of sorcery is this?
