No one has talked to me about a make up yet. I won’t ask and I hope they don’t tell. Since I used 8 hours of leave, I’m going to make sure any make up I’m asked to do takes as little of my time as possible. Hopefully it’s skimming the stupid slides and scribbling some thoughts on a google form. |
| They should more of these days but much shorter. One or two each quarter for 2-3 hours max. |
They don't have to switch curriculum. They need to enhance the curriculum with additional curriculum and resources to ensure that the new standards are incorporated. Honestly this 2year integrated Algebra is my biggest concern, as no one has that, Algebra is already a tricky point for kids, and what is going to come after it is still unknown. Maybe the will have answers this week when they preview. |
If a staff member used leave, they should not have to make up anything. |
| Elementary--lasted the whole day. Only one hour for lunch and one hour for classroom time... I'm sure this is a violation of some sort. I had plenty of stuff I needed to do for actual planning classroom stuff. |
Central Office didn't bother sending teachers the agenda. Schools had some flexibility in how they implemented the day, which included 7.5 outlined hours. Part One: Science of Learning (2 hours) Part Two: School created content to the am session (4 hours) Part Three: Teacher independent time aligned to professional learning objectives (1.5 hours) It would have been great to have time to do all of the stuff that cannot be done during the school day, but it's apparent that both the state and county have no clue about the demands of this job. |
| My ES only had us in PD until 11:30 and then we were able to spend the rest of the day long-range planning with our teams. It was a great use of the time to get a little bit ahead with the curriculum. |
That’s great. Looks like some schools were smart about it. |
