Science is not America's friend. If it was, school times would be different for high school students. Their bodies do not naturally need to sleep until 11pm ish. And they need to sleep well to eat well too. Why can't we make this right?! |

lol my wife is a teacher. After years of making my kids their lunches I also make hers.
Beginning of school year isn’t so bad but I fam completely out of ideas and energy by February or March! |
Repeat Repeat Repeat |
Well you are obviously a highly perfect person who has raised the most perfect children. Because you have achieved this level of perfection, you may ascend to the astral plane and leave us highly flawed mortals with highly flawed children here to share empathy and recipes in discussing the endless monotony of preparing school lunches for our children who, while flawed and inefficient beings, nonetheless must eat. |
Well said! |
It must be that poster who can't open to the idea of discussing new high school start times -- they have tucked their kids in bed at 9:59pm each night given them their pacifiers, have them up at 4:59am to feed the farm animals, do extracurriculars and get them to school at 7:29am to be first to reach their class. |
One of my kids' activities is gourmet cooking. So they get lunch automatically, and a unique experience for college application. Get on the ball people! Or your kid can spend 5 minutes packing a bag lunch after dinner. |
6 hours of homework in one night is not helping her learn and achieve. Stop trying to force something that isn't going to happen. Stop inventing nonsensical "standards". |
| I rarely make a kid lunch after K. They make it themselves. Sometimes with assistance, but it’s mostly them. |
If I’d made their lunches in HS, we would have had a weekly menu except for special occasions. |
If only able bodied and at least average intelligence children of ages 14-18 could learn how to make a sandwich! Why are society’s expectations of teens so high? |
Like said previously, thats poor time management. The athletes are home by 630. There's plenty of time to shower, eat, do homework and get to sleep before 11. If your kid is doi g 6 hours of homework a night, your kid has a problem. Every high school parent on this board has kids with heavy ap and honors classes- its the mcps way. No one is doing 6 hours of homework a night. |

It is definitely poor time management and/lor enablement by parents. If a kid can manage whatever activity, they can manage making themselves lunch. Sandwiches, Chicken Nuggets, Salads, leftover from dinner, whatever.
Create an at home menu or even better just provide a list of ideas and let them have at it. |
IB? |
Did you stop making lunch already? It's only week 3. |
