Most expensive is really relative to the amount we were making at the time. Considering that I think our most expensive was a three week trip to Germany, Austria and France that included a one week Vermont Bicycling trip through the wine country of southeastern France. Second would be the one I just booked for a cruise from Budapest to Germany (forget where) for next December. With add ons and air fare it’s about $4,500 PP. |
Do you realize there are 21 days in three weeks? 21×200 equals $4200 just for hotels. |
It would be interesting to figure out how you did that because it would be about 1000 to fly in 2000 for hotels so you only had $1000 for spending money? |
Are people just trolling and making up these numbers ?
Unbelievable. |
How do you do 10 days in Italy when the airfare is nearly 1K each? Was this 1999? |
No. I just took myself to a destination spa. 1 person, 15K. Worth every cent and I've been working since I was 12. NW sans house = 5m (but I have a spouse so my NW is more like 2.5m). We took a trip for 4 that cost nearly 20K but it was two weeks, private guides, some 5star hotels, all inclusive. Also very worth it. |
At least $30K. Biz class to/from Japan. Five star hotels. Private guides. Ten days. Two people. Great. 2024 |
2019 - Tickets under 1k (dozens of good flights to Milan ~500-600 in Sept and Oct right now. Hotels around $100 a night and enough money for food, train tickets. Easy to travel on a budget if you are fine not staying in 4-5 star hotels or flying business/1st class. |
Northern Italy and Switzerland. Trains. The Switzerland days were MUCH more expensive than the Northern Italy ones. |
Also, I didn't add it all up but it was probably around 10K all told. Moving from place to place makes vacations more expensive Tip to others who want to enjoy travel: never add all the costs up. It kills the joy. |
Yeah this was ours too but for 3 people. Still was in the 30K range. |

Lodging near yellowstone is incredibly expensive. More expensive than anywhere else I've been for terrible accomodations. But, what can you do? It's a world class attraction. |
