Yes it's a very classic California thing. Make sure you order the fries "well done"- their fries are usually not cooked enough and come out a bit limp and not especially good. You can ask for them to be "well done" and they make a batch that cooks a bit longer, they are much more crispy that way. |
There’s also one right off 101 in Marin at Strawberry near Mill Valley turn off. No bay view but you can see Mount Tam. |
Yes, In n Out is the first place my kid wanted to go in San Francisco! |
I’m the pp from Burlingame. There are so many places (including burger places) I’d rather go than In ‘N Out but if you did want to go there there’s one in Millbrae not far from the airport / right by 101. |
In and Out is marketed as a California thing but it is disliked by many, many Californians. The burgers are pretty bad. The fries are worse. The only thing it has going for it is that it is cheap. |
I've lived in California for 21 years. Think I've had In & Out once? It might be the best of fast food burgers, but it's not good. Here are some great burger places in SF: https://sf.eater.com/maps/best-burgers-san-francisco-1 |
I think their burgers are great. Better than Five Guys and a much better value. To be clear Fice Guys makes a good burger, but I swear I rake a couple months off of my life when I eat there. Maybe it’s the fries? So good, but so greasy. Back to In-N-Out…I love it and I usually avoid fast food, but make an exception for In-N-Out. |
Yeah and don’t leave your luggage in a rental car. Like, ever. |
There’s also Piatti in Strawberry (Mill Valley area along 101). That has a nice view of the marsh and Mt. Tam. But it’s a small chain. https://millvalley.piatti.com/ |
