That’s the thing. NVSL Divisionals are not for the team. There are no points being scored, no awards handed out to the team. Divisionals are all purely about the individual. To the family who got screwed in this…look for another team. |
Become the team Rep and you will have more of a say.
Maybe I need to start pissing off parents so someone will want to take over! |
I’m surprised they let the swimmers/families pick. In our MCSL team, coaches pick the divisional lineup. |
I have a senior on a team with lots of strong 15-18 and they swim every A meet in 2 events. But they won't be at divisionals because after the top kids picked, they aren't high enough in the other available strokes.
Would never want someone moved to accommodate them as much as I wish they could swim. Now if someone offered because they won't be in a position to break a record or go to all stars, I'd be so happy. But the top kids get to pick. Some years that has been my kid, this year it isn't. OP there isn't much to be done except find a new team. NVSL isn't going to get involved in this trivial stuff. Your team runs this way, either stay or don't. |
What a terrible attitude OP. It’s really more about the swimmer who’s being included vs the (unmentioned) third swimmer who’s being left out. There are a fixed number of team slots at that age group so shuffling the events will drop someone either from an event or from the meet. I’d want the coach to strongly consider the ladder but if a shuffle makes sense to get the most deserving swimmers in the meet I’d respect that too. The most important thing is to set a good example for the kids on how to handle these kind of situations in life when they arise and OP fails that with flying colors. |
Yes, you can appeal to the NVSL Circuit Court of Appeals. If you lose there, you can file for a writ of certiorari to the NVSL Supreme Court. Stand up for your rights. and fight! |
![]() You can also join the class action suit on missing out on awards and having to pony up $ to pay for a special lunches amd extra practices for divisionals and/or all-star swimmers. In all seriousness, I'd be annoyed and upset, but I'd get over it. At the end of the day it's rec summer swim. And like so many other things in life, the "right" outcome doesn't always happen. Is it worth the energy to find some recourse for a 6 week rec league? I don't think so. |
⬆️⬆️⬆️All of this is wrong in NVSL. |
⬆️⬆️⬆️Not applicable to NVSL, as pointed out exhaustively in almost every thread over the last five days. |
⬆️⬆️⬆️Still wrong for NVSL. |
⬆️⬆️⬆️Fourth incorrect comment for NVSL. |
⬆️⬆️⬆️Fifth false statement for NVSL. |
The amount of time you spent with the emojis, you could have just told us the specific NVSL policy. |
Man, am I glad we're MCSL. |
Why do the team reps even have a say in the divisional meet sheet? I am a team rep and I only reviewed our meet sheet for accuracy and to make sure no one was entered into more than 2 events. The conversations about stroke selection and preferences occurred between the coaches and the swimmers, with the top swimmers across all strokes getting first pick. It would bother me to be on a team where a team rep had any influence over the meet sheet. That is 100% not cool. |
