I've been to Mont Tremblant! That would be a drive! I flew into Montreal and drove from there. It's a beautiful mountain and town!!!

Mammoth has pretty good snow coverage at Christmas time. You can fly into Bishop 45 min away on United via Denver or SFO. Lots of decent beginner trails for the younger one and challenging terrain for the older kids. A ton of non-skiing activities to do in town too. Great free town bus system and a village connected to the lifts via a gondola if you don't want to rent a car.
