RMSCs invite in December is the best meet in the area sans NCAP, but NCAP doesn’t make sense for a team that is just starting. It’s also a 20-ish minute drive from McLean to Germantown with no traffic (like for a 6 AM warmup).

I live down the street from Tuckahoe. GISC is 19 miles. That's not 20 minutes, regardless of the traffic, and this meet is a thursday-sunday meet.

We can agree to disagree about what constitutes the "best meet." I am a huge fan of Winter Classic.

The best meet stuff is funny because unless you are a family who has switched clubs a lot you have likely not attended every meet. I know we certainly haven't. So how can anyone say which is "the best".

One might suggest using times to quantify that

I guess it depends on how you want to qualify the best meet- fastest times? well run? fun vibes? ...lots of things can make a meet "the best"

Are there any senior-level swimmers? The location is convenient but want my kid to have a good cohort to train with.

I know of at least 7 kids going to the AM group. Many of them have PVS champs times, but no sectional cuts.

Our club attends the RMSC Riley Eaton meet and it’s an amazing and competitive meet. They have prelims/finals for all age groups unlike ncap which only offers that format for 11u.

If a number of the swimmers going to Hydra are elite, younger swimmers maybe this was a deliberate choice for a prelim-final format meet that occurs mid-season. Just a thought…

Seven kids this person knows of is not the same as 7 kids total in that group.

There are at least 5 from our Arlington, non-Tuckahoe summer team going. I think most of all of them were in T’s York/Yorktown age group practice and want to stay with him. These are very strong swimmers but not are over 12.

Yep, heard this from several parents at a Mclean summer team also.

Must be upsetting for those who are hoping he fails.

Everyone assumed those kids would go with him. This isn’t the gotcha that you think it is. It’s Chesterbrook, in case anyone is wondering.

Many are staying because a few are obsessed with him. Many others are staying bc their friends are.
