‘27 recruiting: advice from people who already went thru it?

I’m assuming that’s true for Yale or Princeton as well. For other mid-majors and certainly power 4 it doesn’t matter

If your swimmer has Futures times and good stats, d3s are a good target. Ivies still want Winter Juniors times if not Summer Juniors at least is what we’ve been told

Thanks. This is probably the perfect answer to my question.

All the information you need is on SwimCloud.

The recruits from ‘27 have not committed yet

But it’s easy to see who are the top commits by state, national rank, etc via swimcloud

My advice...D1 P4 diver...find a school that passes the broken leg test. Will they be happy at the school without their sport? The NCAA settlement for House has changed the game with roster limits and many futures of swim and dive programs in question as schools prioritize the revenue generating sports. Hopefully things will be better for the 2027 class than for the 2025 class as two years will go by under this settlement. That said, there are still things to look out for...do the athletes like their coach, the culture of the team and can they keep up the the grind of a schedule for SAs esp for a long swim/dive season. Do not discount any schools and the shiny beacon of the P4 is not all its cracked up to be.

Tennessee 25 class of eight, one American. One. And the class is a mix of boys and girls.

Have fun 27’. Wake up! If you are not top 20 in your class, including your international competitors, adjust yourself to the new world so your feelings don’t get hurt.

The international piece is incredibly frustrating especially when you look at the makeup of NCAA championships...TONS of international. Nothing like this exists for American swimmers/divers internationally and I do believe the NCAA needs to figure out how to promote US athlete development. Perhaps international athletes should not count toward the roster limits in P4. Perhaps scholarship $ should be less. Something needs to change as many of the athletes use NCAA to train for olympics games, worlds etc...

Exactly. Why are American kids getting overlooked for international swimmers who do nothing for the development of our country's Olympic Team? Someone in Colorado Springs needs to wake up and start advocating for our sport within the NCAA.

All the Power 4 schools are state schools. Maybe not today or tomorrow, one of these governors or legislators will have someone whispering in their ear a question. Did you know, sir/madam, that our state tax dollars are being spent to fund international students to come to our schools to take slots from qualified American athletes? Then things will change.

these conversations have been happening .. i know for a fact in VA for example as well as Indiana and a couple other states.

USA Diving also was recently in the US House and Senate talking about athlete development but i don’t believe the international piece was really discussed as the House settlement ramifications of diving being expendable to swimming was more of a focus

Someone should have Riley Gaines sink her teeth into this.

Not all of the Power 4 schools are state schools.

Most private schools, like USC, for example, receive state aid that comes to them from Federal funds. Just because you are private does not mean you can hide.
