4.21 (that's with 12 credits earned)
4.0 for just freshman year courses |
With 4 honors courses (assuming Bio, English, History and math - expected for “AAP” kids), a flat 4.0 suggests quite a few B+ grades. The honors courses already give a 0.5 bump so if the kid had gotten solid As, GPA would be closer to 4.5. Only 2-3 course can bring GPA down but not to a 4.0 of 4.5s were earned in the core classes. Logical conclusion: The AAP kid didn’t get top grades in their honors classes. |
My kid with all As and four honors classes has a 4.286 |
Mine too. All A’s and one A- and the GPA is 4.238 |
That’s more in line with what I would expect an “AAP” student to have. A flat 4.0 from an AAP student isn’t impressive. And fyi, the mom brought up that her kid was AAP, as if that explained why his GPA was so high. So I explained that a 4.0 with all 4 honors classes actually wasn’t. |
| Wondering if my kid should take PE P/F during the school year to bump up his GPA? All the summer school kids are doing that. |
So what? What's wrong with A-, B+, or B? |
Nothing but for some reason the Mom felt the need to say “yes he’s in AAP” as if that explained his 4.0. |
There is zero reason to do this. Fcps doesn't do class rank and colleges recalculate gpas using their own formulas. Pass/fail over the summer is usually done to decrease stress, since it is so time intensive |
Unweighted. |
Bull. Everyone was giving weighted and this is FCPS. |
The reason to do this is to increase your weighted GPA. Lots of kids do this. And PE isn’t hard to get an A in in the summer. This kids all do it for the GPA boost. We can play the game too. |
But what is the point of increasing your weighted GPA if there is no class rank? |
Ask the Asians and Indian kids - they all do it to get the highest weighted GPA possible. And they try to take more AP electives. |
