Gel manicures are so expensive

If you are one of the few who gets professional gel manicures that are always pale pink, rounded short nails 💅🏽 then good news: you can do this at home for $1.50/week in supplies. No need to get a $40 salon job for this look.

I could do that, but I like the professional look and want my manicure to last. I don't have tips, but gel over my natural short nails.

+1

I pay $45 every two weeks, including tip. I love having beautiful nails - they’re my one beauty indulgence and make me happy. I get different colors, so it’s not always the same, moreover, with three kids and a busy home life, I’d rather spend the hour it takes out of the house and get it done right.

Great way to get a fungus or other infection. Many people have died from going to nail salons, or lost digits or entire appendages from infections.

OP here
Can you share what products you use? I cook and clean a lot so regular polish does stay on my hands.

I don’t polish my nails—I buff them. Problem solved.

Not PP.

But I've had great success with Essie from the drugstore. Even their quick dry (Expressie) lasts about a week on me.

I use the gel-like topcoat and almost always get a week out of it.

Op it's gotten so expensive. I used to go every few weeks.

I've gone for years and have never had a problem.

Do you have back up for your "many people" who have died from going to a nail salon?

One would assume you can use the internet and are not confined to DCUM. Search.

It's practically slave labor so no I don't think it is ridiculous.

Yet my nail tech is putting her son through college working part time.

You can easily remove gel nails at home.

I’m paying $59 plus tip in McLean- $72 total. So, could be worse.

So you really don't have anything for OP.

One could also assume you could provide a link for such a claim.
