Can you post a link to the videos showing LEO giving them a welcoming wave followed by a tour? Because from everything I have seen, there is absolutely no way someone walked in there and thought it was a-ok.

I'm not going to do a deep dive to find the wave, but this video shows that the police were allowing entry. Seeing the videos were enough to convince me that a reasonable person might be confused. In any case, you're getting distracted by the veracity of the trespassing claims when really what you want to say is that its okay to assault ICE agents and that the fact that cops got assaulted on J6 provides a sort of cover for the current violence against ICE agents. It was absolutely traumatizing for the police. We are in violent agreement about that. However, the fact remains that they did what they were TRAINED to do, which is to be welcoming. I'm in no way claiming that they enjoyed the situation or that it wasnt horrific for them. And my Capitol Police friend was extremely shaken for months. But I am able to understand that if people are welcomed in, they may not understand they are trespassing.

It was absolutely traumatizing for the police. We are in violent agreement about that. However, the fact remains that they did what they were TRAINED to do, which is to be welcoming. I'm in no way claiming that they enjoyed the situation or that it wasnt horrific for them. And my Capitol Police friend was extremely shaken for months. But I am able to understand that if people are welcomed in, they may not understand they are trespassing.

You also absolutely suck as a friend. Our other neighbor prosecuted these guys at DOJ and he said it was excruciating to have these officers on stand reliving the day. In any case, it's irrelevant to the central question posed by the OP. The OP asks, since cops were attacked on J6, can liberals attack ICE agents and everyone just look the other way? The answer is no. Just like people in J6 spent years in prison for trespassing, the people who show up at these protests and take a single wayward step into an unauthorized area can expect to spend years in prison for trespassing. And those that assault, kidnap, or interfere with ICE will receive even harsher punishments, hopefully in a Salvadoran prison.

Can you post a link to the videos showing LEO giving them a welcoming wave followed by a tour? Because from everything I have seen, there is absolutely no way someone walked in there and thought it was a-ok.

I'm not going to do a deep dive to find the wave, but this video shows that the police were allowing entry. Seeing the videos were enough to convince me that a reasonable person might be confused. In any case, you're getting distracted by the veracity of the trespassing claims when really what you want to say is that its okay to assault ICE agents and that the fact that cops got assaulted on J6 provides a sort of cover for the current violence against ICE agents. Do I have that right? Also, since other people robbed banks before, would that justify me robbing a bank?

I’ll play along and say that some of the posters thought they were on a tour.

Should you touch things on a tour?
Should you bring a noose?
Should you try to break into non-tour areas when you are on a tour?
Should you carry a weapon? Bring pipe bombs?
Should you try to sit at someone’s work desk while you are on a tour?

These are things I would tell my preschoolers to do: Look with your eyes and keep your hands down. Follow directions. They do it. Adults should know how to behave on a “tour.”
