OP didn’t post the full list. Just VA schools for some weird reason. |
She linked it and many of us clicked the link. Considering it's 4 years of data, it's shocking how many schools only have 1 student attending. |
+1 Why can't people click links? |
Your kids attend neither and what I said is absolutely true. |
They've sent 104 students to:
Columbia Cornell Princeton Vanderbilt Rice Notre Dame Yale JHU Gtown Harvard Williams Emory WashU Northwestern U Chicago Penn Dartmouth Brown Looks pretty good to me. About 120 in the senior class on average. 120 x 4 years of data = 480. That means 21.67% of that 480 went to a highly ranked school EXCLUDING UVA, which is a great school and there have been lots of Potomac admits going there. If I add in UVA, it's 31.90% of the students from the last 4 years went to the above listed schools + UVA. |
I read the link and was actually impressed with the matriculation results—not something I expected from a school I've always considered mediocre at best. Potomac clearly excels at providing an expensive private education for parents who need that prestige factor, but I'll give credit where it's due: they're actually getting some kids into top-tier schools. |
Ok, divide your senior class in half and run the percentages. I’m guessing you have more than 250 kids per grade, and that Potomac’s percentages are still better than yours. |
No one in the last 4 years has gone to CNU from Potomac. And only 3 to JMU. But sure, let’s all find more pearls to clutch. |
Wouldn’t we all love almost 1/3 of a senior class going to highly ranked schools??? |
The families at Potomac are likely considering the entire data set and not a cherry picked fact about in state schools. |
Your list doesn't even include Stanford, MIT, Cal, UCLA and is only attendees, not acceptances. They are doing great. |
The top five schools over the past four years:
30 UVA 18 William & Mary 12 BC 11 Tulane, Washington & Lee I'd be fine with that as a parent. There are posters who seem to think every Potomac parent is a highly educated big law partner. There are plenty of people who went to random colleges. Have you never spent time at a large company before? My boss went to JMU and probably makes around 300k. |
They’re also wealthy and statistically could graduate from Fort Boone Junky State University and still land on their feet fine. |
The parents don't care about admissions results or the tuition. These people just want connections, nice facilities and to get away from the poors. Some of these kids have trusts and will never need to hold a job. Who cares where they go to school. |
Very nice. |
