With the 200 IM occurring as one of the last events the Friday night before divisionals, I could see my own child (who could make finals in it) scratching it because we can’t get home at 11 pm the night before 7 am divisionals.

I was just thinking the same thing. That Friday night will be a lot of scratches because my swimmer and I are not late night people with early morning swims. They will certainly scratch.

Ya I highly doubt there will be more than 1-2 scratches. It’s a championship meet and will be treated as such by the other 98+% of the LSC.

These are 14&U. I would agree with you if high school kids because they might be striving to swim in college. But the younger kids love summer swim.

Why wouldn’t the 10 and under that is that concerned about their summer meet on Saturday just swim Thursday, Sunday and Monday and not choose events on Friday then? I doubt there will be many scratches for the 13-14s.

We had hoped that the schedule would fall where missing Friday was perfect, but in our case, my child’s best events are on Friday. We aren’t going more than 2 days to the LC meet.

I know I’m looking at this through the lens of the parent of a kid who doesn’t put summer swim over club, but what is the point of swimming your best events if you know you’re just going to scratch out of finals if you make it? It’s one thing if it’s your best event but you’re not going to final anyway and therefore it’s not a “conflict”, but why put that effort in just to scratch out of finals? I also feel like if you’re a good enough swimmer that you’re making LC champs finals (especially this year when there are only 8 finalists for 10 U and 16 finalists for 11-14) you can rock up to divisionals even on less sleep than is ideal and still crush. There are no PVS champs finalists that can’t make IAS.

You have a real choice? Our club would generally expect a clear calendar except for serious reasons.

Normally distance free would be first day and last day. This schedule is different for sure!
