Such deflection. Law enforcement needs probable cause and needs to identify itself. Two elements lacking here. We remain a nation of laws. Extrajudicial detention is not acceptable. |
There is no obligation to provide identity in the absence of reasonable, articulable suspicion (RAS) that the person has committed a crime, is committing a crime, or is about to commit a crime. In the absence of that RAS, the police can request ID, and demanding ID is a violation of the 4th Ammendment. |
