Do you think celebs and/or their PR hang out on DCUM or other social media like Reddit

Lauren Sanchez thread-

‘I think she’s a beautiful strong woman who dresses how she wants to!!’

- said no real woman ever

Politicians are not real celebs. I can absolutely believe politician staffers comment here but nobody cares about them anyway.

Huh? Lauren Sanchez is not a politician

Hang out regularly? No. Visit here for crisis or specific needs. Yes

No
But i heard dcum *lightly referenced* (not named or spoken) on a podcast recently. Media type of podcast.

They didn’t say dcurbanmom, but I knew.

Publicists would not keep their jobs very long if they wrote that badly or made such obvious posts that seem more like trolling than actual admiration. I think there are some mentally ill and/or bored people who find their way to this website, who like to stir things up with nonsense.

LOL. I got pitched every day by publicists who had big name clients (for their lower clients) and you would be shocked by the spamming, atrocious writing, and totally off-base pitches (like having a magazine about cats and pitching horses). I honestly wanted to email their clients and ask why they were paying these slackers $$$.

With that said, it seems like Justin Boldoni has pr agents here, or posters who are gobbling up everything posted by his pr agents elsewhere, and regurgitating it here.

I'm on DCUM all the time and one day I'm going to be a big star.

I think Par folks definitely monitor and even post on Reddit because Reddit's SEO is crazy high. It's often one of the top results in an Google search for any topic. So knowing what people on Reddit are saying about a certain celeb, or trying to guide conversation there towards desirable topics, could have real impact on a celeb's rep.

DCUM is too niche. Very occasionally a celeb thread here goes viral and maybe that will get on PR radar and maybe they would even come post in that thread. But it's rare and if the thread is in a big controversy discussed elsewhere (like the Blake Lively/Baldoni thing, most royal family stuff, both of which get tons of discussion eksewhere) I just don't think DCUM ranks.

The only DCUM threads that I think might have grabbed PR attention the way Reddit does is that Hilaria thread uncovering her take accent/heritage. DCUM even got mentioned in the media coverage of that scandal I think.

But usually you think DCUM flies under the radar of celeb PR, probably viewed correctly as downstream of outlets like tabloids, Reddit, major celeb and gossip sites, etc.

DCUM often comes up #1 in google search, also, that's how so many people outside of the DMV find it and post.

Many companies, and I would assume celebrities as well, use "reputation monitoring" software that crawls the web (including Reddit and DCUM) to measure consumer sentiment for their brand. So while a celeb may not start off on DCUM website, they could end up here because of the reputation software.

I also think Tina Fey might have been on UB, based on that last episode of 30Rock.

Some of yall think that the world revolves around you. I doubt that people care that much about what D.C. Urban Moms and Dads have to add to the conversation. I could believe Reddit, but stop kidding yourself and look at the user interface. There are not enough people on this website to make look like more than it is: a 4chan for bored suburban parents. Which is a fair thing for a website to be, but it is not going to be huge in the number of people it reaches, because it is made for a very small amount of people in the grand scheme of things. There is a reason why I have met anyone young or old other than my mother that has heard of this damn website. Take a walk buddy, even Russian bots can't find it within themselves to give a f**k about this website, there is no dang way that celebs are astroturfing movements here.

Perhaps this doesn't fall under the celebrity category, but local newscasters and radio personalities 100% do.

Of course they do!

Not sure about DCUM, but Reddit 100%. I’ve often wondered if PR campaigns are even behind some of the snark threads on there— in the sense that when the hate is truly wild, it makes normal people root the other way just to spite what they feel are deranged fans.

Definitely right about that one.

Seeing how bots and astroturfing have totally seized control of Facebook Reddit twitter and even lipstick alley, which all require logins — yeah, any anonymous large forum that’s easy to post on has both AI and human bots and astroturfing. They don’t care if it’s a Washington-based mom forum, it’s just part of a broader effort to spam whatever the objective is.

The internet is fake.
