The show is a remake and the character was named Kate in the original. |
Linda doesn’t really fit with her generation. Anyone in Gen X knows there were tons of Katherines and Katie’s growing up - it’s a very realistic name for this generation. Linda was much more popular about 15-20 years earlier. |
It's disappointing given the cast. It's just meh. I expected there to be more laughs. I've made it through 4 episodes and will finish it after I make through all of Hacks which IS funny. |
I think she’s an attractive woman. I feel like they just did her a little bit dirty with the hair. |

I think Tina Fey is a great comedian and comedy writer. I don’t think she is an actor.
Hacks this season is not as good as prior seasons. I’m giving it up. Pitt was good throughout. |
I watched this show with my husband this weekend and we enjoyed all the twists and turns. There were some sincerely hilarious moments in here. The play!! The shed! The guitar!!! |
I liked it. I liked it better than the original movie. I think a lot of the lines were funnier than the original. I think the story benefited from being longer. It wasn't perfect but it was an enjoyable, light watch. The music interludes can't be beat. |
OmG I haven't seen the original, but every line Kate says hits my gut. is that the original? Or did Tina get in there with some zingers. Like I pay the bills, I manage everything... |
She's beautiful and very funny. When she says a line, it's Trudie. I think that's not such a good thing, but boy I love her. |
i hate nick and I'm glad he died |
Yeah, the problem I had with the show is they never really convinced me that Ginni would be with him. I get that he has money, and maybe he was more romantic than guys her age. But all of her friends were not coupled up and she tried to come across it first that she was really into fluidity blah blah blah. And he was super messy with a teen daughter and an ex-wife? I just don’t buy it. Like why would she get with this older dude and want to hang out his friends? It just wasn’t a convincing relationship to me. And it made no sense that after only a few months, she would’ve done the parents weekend. I also didn’t get that she was a dental hygienist! They should’ve made her the Pilates, instructor or something. It just didn’t track with her friends that she would be a dental hygienist. That’s kind of a working class job and she clearly comes for money as do her friends. But I will say I did really love the show. It kept me hooked for sure. |
Trying so hard to see what you all liked about this. I just hated every bit of it -- and I watched the whole thing in part because of the positive comments here, trying to see if it would grow on me.
No one was convincing as longtime friends or spouses. It bummed me out how unattractive they all are and how ugly their clothes and stupid hats were. (That's not something I care about and don't know why it makes me cranky except maybe they screwed around with a movie I loved.) The editing and pacing were horrible. Maybe that's what happens when you stretch a single movie into 8 episodes. This was godawful. |
NP - My feelings are along these lines, though slightly less intense. I wanted to love this and enjoyed a lot of it, but was ultimately really frustrated by it. |
