There also aren’t enough interested and good players in this area to support it. They will field a bunch of mediocre teams.

I am still intrigued. I think this is what the area needs. Open tryouts with a marquis MD club with tons of connections. Ricky Fried, former G-town womens lax coach is hosting a clinic May 17. https://truelacrossenationalgirls.leagueapps.com/events/4577666-nat-girls-2025-skills-developmental-clinic-with-national-coaches---md-united-clu

It sure sounded to me like they stated that it would take a few years.

And you're right, and if you're happy with the current process and the sh***y website and non-existent social media for your DD, then this shouldn't affect her or her teammates' process. If there are changes, I would guess they would only show up and affect the girls currently in elementary and middle school.

The challenge going forward is that Capital will start to have to convince these girls to leave the clubs, rather than the way they all flock to Capital now. Facts are that when those younger girls start with these other clubs early on, and when not, if they are convinced that they are equal, if not better, options for them for HS, why would they leave. Capital will learn that the YJ and M&D names carry real weight, no matter what the city name is after.

As long as BLC ends in 8th grade, Capital will be in great shape. MDU Bethesda would need to offer 100% discounts to entice families to leave the only successful program in montgomery county.

If you look at the BLC pipeline, I would agree, IF you can get all those girls to Capital plus some others. BLC 2030, 2031, 2032, and 2033 are ALL hands-down best teams in the DC area at those ages and it is not close.

Connections? Have the MDU recruiting results last couple of years been very good? How many girls have they placed in T25 programs?

There’s a list of recruits on the MDU webpage.

For the 2025s and 2026s they committed one player to Denver, which is currently #23 on IWLCA coaches poll.

This is a good resource for anyone who wants to see how successful a program has been in terms of recruiting.

https://public.clublacrosse.org/commitments/dashboard/gender-with-player

The most successful teams in the area last several years have been the following (in alphabetical order):

Capital Blue
Hero's Green
M&D Black
Skywalkers Blue

They play in a week and a half. We will find out the answer.

If YJ30's beat the BLC30's in a week and a half, that would be the first time ever.

This thread is about MDU Bethesda and what it can bring to the table for the DMV girls, not scores. Based on my conversation with Bev Altig local coaches will be named closer to tryouts. Also because of their alignment with True Lacrosse there is additional development and recruiting support with actual former D1 coaches.

Are all of these teams entering the market probably in response to Pride collapsing? Wow, what a fail!

MDDC has one good team, 29s, and their roster is set basically (unless there’s a massive move to Cap, but few, if any, will be honest about their intentions about staying or not). No one is excited for YJ. Having MDU come in to Bethesda helps for high school players.

If MDU Bethesda wants to be taken seriously as an option for high school they should announce the coaches, practice sites and recruiting coordinator.

+1

This is the most important thing.

Parent coaches are the big winners!

What's the deal with Pride? Which year?

But this is Bethesda, Pride isn't in Bethesda. I thought this was because everyone knows MC Elite and BLC Orange kids are up for grabs.
