Trans hardliners are the ones who helped Trump win all the swing voters. When a transgender member of Congress is begging you to tone it down, you miiiiight want to consider your own impact on the Republic |
Won’t someone please think of the trans women they are displacing! |

Aside from the hardcore trans activists, Dems HAVE been in the quiet support stage. But we have to go even quieter. We have to tell our trans folks that we’re temporarily taking girls’ sports away from them. If we don’t do that, the GOP will make sure our “quiet support” is LOUDLY publicized. |
Making babies. A task only women can do. Glad we finally agree on something. |
I admire the attempt to change the dialogue. That takes courage and is admirable.
But I don’t think it will work because this is at heart an issue of conflicting legal rights. The Democrats and trans rights activists have taken the position that gender-based rights are more important than sex-based rights, and that gender identity is more important than sex. That isn’t just a philosophical position, it’s a legal position. Sex-based rights and gender-based rights are in direct conflict, something that is particularly clear in sports because of the zero sum outcome. There isn’t really a world where “nuance” resolves the issue because at the end of the day, these are directly conflicting rights. If you prioritize gender-based rights like the Democrats, you have to accept the consequences of that, up to and including transwomen dominating in women’s sports. If you prioritize sex-based rights, you have to accept the consequences of that, which includes transwomen being barred from women’s sports. This is not a conversation Democrats have been willing to have, probably because they haven’t brought the electorate along with them in placing gender-based rights as more important and more worthy than sex-based rights. But it is the heart of the issue. |
TERFs and their “girls sports” allies deserve to be threatened. This is exactly what haooened with gay people. They used to have no rights. And it took muscular activism for them to seize their rights. Trans athletes are no different. |
I have a good friend who is struggling with their son becoming their daughter in college. And this friend has chosen to fully embrace it because of what the suicide numbers show. That trans kids who are not able to transition and don’t get support a home have a really high suicide rate. It’s much, much lower among kids who are allowed to transition and whose parents support them. This friend isn’t really all that comfortable with her newly trans kids but, she loves them enough not to want them dead. If you have suicide numbers showing something else, please post them. https://www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-news/2024/09/25/nx-s1-5127347/more-trans-teens-attempted-suicide-after-states-passed-anti-trans-laws-a-study-shows https://www.hcplive.com/view/suicide-risk-reduces-73-transgender-nonbinary-youths-gender-affirming-care |
Trans folks can make babies, bigot. |
Do we have to let them vote? |
TROLL ALERT |
they will do it anyway offense is the best defense. Dems need bold proposals to help working people and attacks on GOP policies intended to enrich billionaires. |
It’s too politicized now for me to trust recent “numbers.” But about a decade ago, the numbers showed something else. That people who physically transitioned witb gender affirming care hormones and surgeries ALSO had very high suicide rates. We all care more about partisanship than about kids, so we WANT to believe that trans suicide is caused by unsupportive conservative parents. But suicide is an extreme act, FAR more correlated with one’s own mental health than with one’s parents’ politics. |
Why not create two division in sports "open" for any gender or sex. And "female at birth."
Trans athletes would then have the option to participate in the "open" division. |
Exactly. Or they can form elite trans teams. There are plenty of girls that play on boys teams. Girls teams should remain girls teams from middle school on when puberty starts. If they just accepted this, I'm sure a lot of elementary programs would actually switch to being coed and there would be a robust coed program at the elementary level and then a child could decide how important the sport was whether they wanted to continue on an elite path or just do a sport for fun. |
