I lucked out. Went overseas for Christmas break and rebooked my return flight when I was appraised by the impending snow storm. Effectively making my euro trip 3 weeks long! I submitted sick day today and returning Sunday morning. The best part is getting called a hero by community stakeholders and parents of my students!

Thank you for saying what we are all thinking.

What about those kids who parents work and can't drive their kids to activities? Doesn't seem very equitable to penalize them because their parents work in healthcare or food service.

Guys. You’ve lost the plot. Some things ARE inherently inequitable. That’s life. Schools have to do the best they can to not perpetuate clear inequity but they can’t eradicate it completely. If your parent can’t take you to an after school activity- oh well. That’s how life shakes out sometimes. You can’t even the playing field in all ways for everyone all the time.

They could not have practice. It's not safe for school then it's not safe for practice. Equality achieved. See how easy that was.

No school yesterday but games on last night?

Because the extreme cold was in the morning. By 4 pm it was okay to be out, it was 20 degrees and the sun had melted the ice that had lingered in the morning. So activities were fine. Then there was school again the next day. This isn’t difficult to follow.
