Hire many times do I need to be told about emergency meals?

The FARM rate is NOT zero in our schools and it's unfair that parents would have to drive all the way upcounty for their meal.

Yep, noticed the locations of the schools that are listed. Doesn't mean you can not go there to get a meal but it may not be in your own n'hood. Does MCPS also provide bus/shuttle service from various n'hoods to those locations to pick up meals? Not everyone has access to a bus line or vehicle to get to the food sites.

Yesterday was just as bad.

You would hate me. I also shared this on neighborhood groups. I am so BLESSED that I have food for my family and my kids don't need meals but there are many kids who do need this. Food communication is not something to complain about.

I got 0.

I'm dying here. Send me meals OP

Are they doing nutritious chips and cheese like we got in COVID?

CHEEZ not cheese.

Anonymous wrote:OP, I am glad that you are fortunate enough that this message doesn't apply to you. However, this is an emergency for many food-insecure families, which goes beyond those who qualify for FARMS. I received two texts this morning--one from Alert MCPS and one from ParentVue. These are two separate systems, likely with separate databases. It sounds like you've signed up for multiple ways to get information--and perhaps selected to be notified by both text and email--so you are getting it multiple times. MCPS needs to try to reach all their families; they have to use all their platforms.

How could a family be food insecure but not qualify for FARMS?

F off, seriously. You think everyone on DCUM is super wealthy? You think everyone on DCUM has a shitty character like you? You definitely should check your privilege princess if you are so triggered by texts about hungry kids receiving meals.

Also, I don't think you understand what virtue signaling is.

Are you a recent immigrant to this country?

OP why are you spamming us rather than deleting the messages about food for poor kids you find so objectionable? In the amount of time it took you to post, you could of deleted it. Do you kick dalmatian puppies too?

OP is a genuinely awful people who will rot in Hell, may that be sooner rather than later.

I get it, OP. I’m with you.

Yes OP lacks empathy. Without the /s. And so do you apparently

Just block all the numbers until something important comes around, no need to bother with junk messages every 2 minutes. SO FREAKING ANNOYING!!

I think the distribution sites are a combination of the absolutely highest needs schools and schools that might be accessible to multiple neighborhoods. It's not comprehensive, but I do think folks are doing their best to deploy scarce resources (remember that Food Services needs folks to come in and prepare the food, drivers to distribute to schools, etc) in a way that gets to as many food insecure families as possible.

It doesn’t take earning just an extra bit much or having another change in circumstances to put you above the cut off.

+1 Another common situation is asylum seekers and refugees (so, legal immigrants) often refrain from applying for FARMS due to mistrust of government institutions in general or concern that receiving benefits of any sort will impact their applications.

You know what I'm sick of? I have at least a dozen emails from Jostens bugging me to buy my middle schooler's yearbook from Jostens, the latest suggesting a payment plan for me to purchase it. I don't mind emails about food for poor students. I do mind MCPS sharing my email with spamming vendors.
