Was it a rescue?

I have never met anyone with a pit bull that wasn’t a rescue. I guess there are pit bull breeders out there and I guess there are some people out there who willingly get one from a breeder, but in my UMC liberal circles, all the pits are rescues. I’d be super duper surprised if there is a pit in bethesda that’s not a rescue.

Makes sense. Rescues are dangerous. Pitbulls are dangerous. It’s a terrible combination.

Which neighborhood? It's not in the OP

Possible it ran off because it was not a ferocious beast and didn’t want to be part of the mauling— but the other alternative is that there is another vicious dog on the loose.

JFC. No dogs are out there, on the prowl, just looking for someone to maul. Y'all have such vivid imaginations!

It's just off River Road, kind of near 495. Look up Loch Lomond Drive and that's the area (the incident was on Heatherhill, but it's near).

The houses are old money like 70s and 80s-era, and nice lot sizes. Not many teardowns since the houses are pretty nice to start with. We looked at a house there but were too slow in making an offer.

This isn't so. You do realize that there are Golden Retriever rescues, Border collie rescues etc and they aren't dangerous? If dogs attacked all the time this wouldn't be news.

Pitbulls and their owners are a menace. I hope the victims press charges.

Look at you, assuming facts not in evidence and using them to judge whole groups of people. Bet you sort by color too, eh?

There is no logic with this type. Honestly, I like to think they're b0ts; no human could possible be so stupid, so simple...

They're probably 100% real, and really that stupid/simple, but reframing them makes it easier to just ignore their persistent drivel.

There’s a reason why lots of home insurance won’t insure you if you have a pit bull. Hope those owners told insurance about theirs or they can pay out of pocket.

Recently volunteered with dd at a pet adoption event. They had so many “shepherd / retriever” mixes that looked nothing like a shepherd. Googled it and found it’s usually “pit mix”. It’s harder to tell when the dog is very young for someone who’s not very experienced with dogs. So I can see how people end up with pit mixes from rescues. In any cases it’s very sad.

What's sad about it? A pit mix raised properly from a puppy is going to be an amazing, loyal, intelligent, friendly dog.

The bias some of you have... Where does it even come from? Clearly, you've never known any well-raised pit mix dogs, and yet you claim pits are everywhere. The stats don't support your theories, and yet there's a whole thread of "let's hate on pit bulls" that's probably the most active one in the whole pets forum.

It doesn't make any sense, especially to those of us who know dogs, and have known (and maybe even owned) the breeds that get lumped into "pit bull" and their mixes. Do you need something to hate so badly that you're willing to look like a hapless idiot in order to have your target?

What "lots of home insurance" are you referring to? Can you cite anything to back this up? My insurance knows I have/have had pit bulls for years, and it has no impact on my premiums (which, as a responsible person, are paid in full).

Typical deranged pit defender, trying to deny the facts in front of your face.
