I have a Hemnes three drawer dresser which I liked very much, but it has just fallen apart. The side panels separated so that the drawers do not fit in the rollers. I haved tried to fix, but each time I think it is fixed and try to reinsert a drawer, it falls apart again.

I think Hemnes is the most durable out of all their furniture lines. I've had the Hemnes chest since 2000 and it's gorgeous. The drawers glide well and the wood hasn't cracked, bowed, etc.

Depends if you generally break things. If you do, you'll break it. If not, not

As a nanny I've worked with 3 different families with the Hemnes dresser/changing table and all of them were falling apart within the first year. If it were me, I'd get something different. I worked with another family that had a cute Ikea dresser that was tall and white, but I don't see it on the website currently. It seemed to be holding up nicely and looked good and the kids were 3 yr old twins. I worked with another family that had a couple of the Malm dressers and they seemed more durable than the Hemnes as well.

Love my Hemnes eight drawer dresser so much I bought another. It will be fine if you assemble it correctly - it takes two people and hours of time but well worth it. Any furniture will fall apart if abused.

We have the 8 drawer hemnes dresser and it's survived several moves (including a cross country move) and is still holding up well. Pretty happy with our purchase.

Same here. Have had it about 5 years

IKEA holds up when it's been put together well and fails when it's twisted or strained by missing or loose hardware. We learned this early on and now pay someone to construct it for us. It's a lot quicker, too.

I have two Hemnes dressers and really like it. It has held up to kids and a few moves. Stylewise, it still looks modern and works well with our decor. I would totally recommend it.

Love our short three drawer hemnes that doubled as a changing table. I switched the black knobs out for glass knobs and it's still going strong almost 4 years in. To me, that's worth the money and I won't feel bad tossing it or passing it along in a few years. Go for it!!

Just FYI: the Hemnes dressers were included in the recent recall. Make sure you attach them to the wall.

We bought our big, short, wide Hemnes model about 6 years ago and it's held up remarkably well. No issues even with kids and a move. It's one of the more well made IKEA pieces.
