Annoyed by that PediaSure ad

OP, I totally agree with you. It annoys the crap out of me when it comes on.

i find the ad a bit ridiculous. its meant for kids who are underweight or sick. not because the little angel will not eat their chicken and green beans but you cant stand to see them hungry.

im using it for the moment with my 1 year old who has severe tonsillitis. he literally cannot swallow most things right now. but he can drink pediasure so if i try pureed baby food or yogurt and he still wont eat because it hurts i will offer a sippy cup of pediasure. then try again the next meal. hes on antibiotics and as his throat heals he will go back to real food because its basically sugary thick chocolate milkshake with nutrients added. its basically nutritionally enhanced candy. which is fine when sick because they need the extra sugar for energy to fight the illness. or extra calories if a child has a growth problem. for the longest time, he was on high calorie preemie formula several times a day to make him gain.

but for the price and sugar content, it should NOT be a daily thing. they make it seem like its an alternative to eating. ive yet to see a healthy child starve themselves. we were never forced to eat as kids but there wasnt an alternative offered. if you didnt eat dinner, you ate breakfast. at most you would miss 2 meals before you gave up and ate. none of us starved. we all figured out a growling tummy sucked. and opted to eat what was offered.

Also, the one where they have an automatic soap pump so you don't have to touch the germy pump...which is stupid, after touching the germy pump, you wash your hands. People must be really gullible...

This one bugs me too... lmao!

We have automatic soap pumps. It's not about the hand washer, it's about the next person. I prefer not to touch the soap dispenser after changing poopy diapers or handling raw meat.

Is anyone else bugged by that PediaSure TV advertisement where the mom says "I have a picky eater...And when her diet started to affect her development and growth ...our pediatrician recommended PediaSure." OMFG. You let your kid get away with not eating major nutrient groups to the extent that your pediatrician had to recommend a supplement to make sure your kid gets basic nutrition, and you're standing there SMILING at us in your workout clothes like it's no big deal? WTF?

Or am I overreacting?

I say let the buyer beware, let them advertise as they like, but this ad really made me not want to buy their product.

One of my kids is picky, and the ad annoys the shit out of me, too. Eat your damn nutrients; don't suck down some crappy drink loaded with sugars.

piss poor parenting

For a place with so many no screen families, surprising number seems to be familiar with this ad.

I was thinking it is just me. My parents would let DS drink it.
It drive me crazy. Feed my child, don't give him pediasure.

He was always thin but never malnourished.

If the mother on the commercials followed her "pediatrician's" recommendation that kid would never learn to eat well an would develop a horrible sweet tooth.

Hopefully we all realize we are discussion a different pediasure commercial than that OP as this is an old thread.

I don't like the ad either. But my 42 lb 10 year old with cerebral palsy relies on Pediasure to stay out of the hospital.

Those are the kids who need Pediasure every single day of their lives.

I'm tired of moms of ordinary kids posting that it's full of junk. It may be full of junk for your kids, but it's exactly what my child needs.

And no, she's never had a single cavity.

These commercials are a deliberate attempt by Pediasure to expand their market into casual users -- Oops, my kid didn't eat her asparagus, I'll just toss her a can of Pediasure. Good luck with that.

NP here, but I think they'll be successful with that. Personally, the ad bugs me too, but I could definitely see a parent thinking, "Hmm....let me give that a try. What's the harm?" And, there you go - increased sales for PediaSure!

How does this hurt you?
