NMSF are out - why does BCC have so very, very few semifinalists?

Yes, and they don't disproportionally pull from Wootton or BCC. This is just a myth that some parents like to tell themselves. The reality is the majority of magnet kids at Blair come from TPMS and the majority of magnet kids from TPMS were zoned for Blair to begin with.

My kid opted to take ACT from the start (got a 35) and didn’t really try their hardest on the psat (which was also the first time they took a digital test). Maybe there are others like this at bcc.

Even if it so, it doesn't follow from your premises that majority or plurality of Blair magnet kids were zoned for Blair.

One of the more interesting things about the list of semifinalists is how many of those students attended CCES HGC. This class was the last one to take the full COGAT test. Perhaps, MCPS should consider bringing it back.

Hence the term honorary. Although to be entirely fair, BCC is much more rigorous and studious than the non-magnet Blair, Poolesville, and Rockville, Einstein, Wheaton, etc. So the description is apt. Wootton is another W that's a little weaker than the three big ones: Whitman, WJ and Winston Churchill.

I'm so impressed to hear that you've taught at, parented through, _and_ attended all of these schools, along with studying all of their data and their demographics. You must be even more amazing than a BCC kid.
