Her “brand” is all about upbeat rom com-ish. |
. This movie got moved because of the writers and then the actors strike. I believe it was supposed to be a spring release. My theory is that the team decided it could be fun to double promote with Deadpool and so her promotional was all light and fun. Given the subject matter it seemed like a bad choice, and then it got really weird when Ryan did that interview with Brandon about being her love interest. It sort of fell flat for me given the movie. But it did really well opening weekend so maybe it worked. |
One of the reasons the movies doing well is because teens are obsessed with Colleen Hoover books- teen girls flooded this movie all weekend. |
Justin Baldoni made some inappropriate comments about Blake’s postpartum body, which was one of the initial issues that started the “feud”. |
That’s hard to imagine, based on his interviews, etc. |
He took method acting too far. This was leaked from someone on set. |
I thought the book was AWFUL. I am not sure if I'll be able to bring myself to watch the movie but probably not because the ratings aren't very good and if it's anything like the book it'll be a misery to watch. |
I don’t buy that he said things about her body.
The movie started filming in NYC and fans freaked out. They thought Blake was way too old for lily, they hated her hair and costumes. It was all over my social. I felt bad for her. Blake freaked out and used some of her clothes and borrowed from Gigi Hadid etc. She probably panicked and pulled Ryan in. Rumor is they decided to make Justin the fall guy in case the movie failed. |
I’ve never read the book or heard of it but I’m looking for a movie to see this week! Early 40s mom. I see critics are panning it but high audience score on rotten tomatoes. Any other feedback on the experience of watching the movie itself would be appreciated. I don’t do horror (need to sleep) or action flicks (find them boring) but like smart films. |
I did not read the book. Is the main character torn between two men? I saw the guy from Yellowstone 1923 is also in the movie. |
The costumes were insane. And you do need youth and a stick thin body to pull off crazy hair and weird fashiony outfits. She had neither back then. |
+1 |
I have read a few books from this author and not impressed so I would not pay to see the movie. One day when it is streaming I might watch |
This is somewhat embarrassing but I was a big Jane the Virgin fan and have followed Justin Baldoni on Instagram for years and years. He’s very… woke? A feminist? Like when his wife was pregnant / delivered a baby - this was years ago - his posts were so respectful and supportive of her. Lots of posts on empowering women and being a stand up dad. VERY respectful. So I’d be surprised if he made comments about Blake Lively’s body. |
It’s not a smart film by any stretch of the imagination. |
