Anyone else not get pickleball?

I have no idea what it is, and will never play, but I love the name. Pickle!

It's for people who live in The Villages outside Orlando. Stupid non-sport. ( There was a piece on 60 minutes about the person who started the sport in WA State. Pickle all was named after his dog.

I wouldn’t advise old people to take it up. Risk of falling is huge.

Can pickleball make you social if you aren't? How do people join leagues?

It's stupid and for drunks. My cousin in FC plays...

Tennis is too hard for most people plus it’s a game where you need opponents exactly your skill level to be fun. That’s why golf with handicaps and pickleball are feasible.

I just go to open play and play with my level.

You see the same people every week.

Eventually you ask 1 to be your partner in a league.

I know but you just can’t play on a whim. It has to be organized.

You don’t have to be obsessive like running, you don’t have to hate life 1/2 the time like golf, you don’t have to be masochists like tennis, it’s not boring and antisocial like going to a gym.

This. Although I have met a few intense competitive people who treat it like table tennis and are just jerks.

Ditto and I just say to them “you're playing pickleball, remember that”… lol

This. I wish I had something even more withering to say to the people who wrap their egos up in a game like this.

For most people it’s a hit and giggle sport. I’ve played tennis for 50 years and when I hear people say “you’d be great at pickleball because it’s so easy” I barf. The injury risk is huge as it requires quick twisting, bending and sudden moves and people aren’t ready for that. Orthopedics love it as it fills up their waiting rooms. It’s exercise which is good but that’s about it.
