It’s my nieces graduation and my sister told me that guests need to start arriving at 8 AM for the 9 AM graduation.

Or leave earlier. Not kidding. Depends also on day of week, some days see more traffic than others. And give yourself time to walk from parking spot to inside especially if you are in heels. If your niece's school is large, - many are in thousands ~2000 (times 6 tickets per thousand graduates), you could be long line to get in. People think it is a joke to leave so early and allocate that much time for a graduation but you'd rather be early than late. The exit gets backed up,. But parking easy at UMBC.

Blair is the largest HS and even it does not have 1000 graduates.

Should read ~200 not 2000. Times 6.
Plus band students + speakers + teachers + ??

2-3 hours. And a commute to and settling in either UMBC or DAR can take long.

Hours for pre-graduation ceremony prep-hair-gown-makeup-photos.
THEN factor 2-3 hours for drive to UMBC (depending on where you're coming from), parking, traffic to get on exit ramp and off, finding seats, bathroom fixing hair getting student where they need to be etc.
THEN 2 hrs for ceremony.
THEN 2hrs to mingle, photos, bathroom, change clothes if needed, figure out where to go after leaving parking lot, finally get out of area for a celebratory meal/drinks.
THEN drive +1hr to that place.

The women's line can get long after ceremony. And take your time, don't be running over my grandmas!

Ceremony will be around 90 minutes. DO NOT GET THERE LATE. They do not allow people to come in as students are proceeding in. Make sure you get there early. Parking is a challenge. Get there much earlier than you think you need to. You can make sure you get a good spot and your child will be able to hang out in the main concourse with their classmates.

We had a report time of 8:00 on a Friday. Left Potomac (Falls Road entrance onto 270) about 7 (had aimed for 6:45 but ran late) . We were 15 minutes late (8:15). 95 traffic was terrible. (I think Waze had told us 54 minutes or something like that.)

540 students in our graduating class. Took about 2.25 hours.

Way to answer the question exactly. Thanks.

How long did it take for those with a 2pm graduation at UMBC??

Be prepared that the Waze time does not take into consideration the parking disaster that is UMBC. It took an extra 40 minutes to park once we made it to the campus! Plan accordingly!

The actual graduation was 2 hours and very nice. I actually enjoyed the commencement speaker!

Churchill- slightly over 500 grads.

The ICC did not help this morning. Too much traffic on 95 and on the UMBC campus. It seemed like the campus was not prepared for the onslaught of cars.

Follow this plan, seriously:
Too long. A full work schedule.

To get to UMBC parking lot by 12:30pm, leave no later than 10:30am if in N or E MoCo. If in Western MoCo, leave by 10am to reach by 12:30p. But could depend on day of week.
