Why do people like Adirondack chairs?

I like the vintage vibe, a pillow in the back and an ottoman (for outdoors) helps. I bought 8 last spring, white, and put them both on the porch and around the firepit. I like the look they remind me of the cape and look particularly good with older houses, though they look good, angular and clean, anywhere. They mix well with wicker too, which tends to be more comfortable. So I mix them in with the cushier stuff.
