TJ Notice - How safe do other TJ parents feel?

Was there any further follow up from principal/FCPS to parents or was last night’s email the last?

Some student wanted to turn a 3-day weekend into a 4-day weekend. Looks like they succeeded for the kids of some overly-paranoid parents.

It's also finals week.

The graffiti suggests a deeper mental health issue, not a mere prank or a gimmick to buy more time for a test.

If your kid goes there you would know. Why are you so preoccupied with it if it’s not your child’s school?

"Based on our school's ongoing investigation, and in consultation with the FCPS Office of Safety and Security, we have determined the risk level to our school to be low. School administration will take appropriate action with consequences and/or support for any violations to our Student Rights and Responsibilities."

What could does this mean? Did they find out who did it?

I don’t think so. The email said that they were still following up on leads from students. I don’t think they’ve identified the kid.

Nope. My kid is home doing the class work they are missing. Not a day off. Just a day free from a shooter threat.

I am interested not in school specifically but FCPS response. When our region had a threat last year, parents (and students) were very upset with how it was handled and a lot of fall out came from it. It is horrible any school district has to address this, but it is today’s reality and important that FCPS continues to improve their response actions and communication. How this is handled at 1 school should be how handled at another so yes, interested.

What if the graffiti writer used their left hand instead of usual right?

if they're dumb enough to write that threat, I am not sure if they are going to think that much.

Disappointed with Principal Bonitatibus' communication. She's sending out vague emails without getting to the point whether the threat has been contained. Students are anxious to know if the graffiti student has been identified and disciplined, and if they would be returning on Monday to a worry-free school premises. Principal is avoiding discussing actual issue and reiterates school is functioning normally, despite hundreds of students staying home today.

How safe anyone “feels” is an irrelevancy. The question is whether the school is safe or not. Are the security precautions adequate or not? Is there a plan to interrupt and respond to any incident, or not?

Consider the situation from a student's point of view. They have witnessed a mentally unstable student message about shooting, and were told by principal last evening, they could stay back home today if they do not feel safe, which most did. It is now principal's basic responsibility to provide clarity in communication how she has mitigated the threat and ensures students will be returning to a safe environment on Monday. As of now, she has failed to do so.
