If you haven’t seen it, Blue Man Group |
My 17 year old daughter and I went last weekend and saw Kimberly Akimbo (it was the last weekend for the show) and the outsiders. Highly recommend the outsiders- great music and choreography! |
My 16 year old loved Outsiders. The sound and lighting design were really good. Don't sit left orchestra for this show. I agree with the person who said to see Six elsewhere. |
My 14 year old has seen Six twice - went with a school group last spring, and loved it so much that I took him back up to see it together. I loved it. As someone else said, it’s not your traditional Broadway musical. More like a rock concert.
Both of my teens have seen Wicked and Moulin Rouge at the KenCen. Enjoyed wicked, but absolutely loved Moulin Rouge. Loved Hamilton— on stage and the movie version of the stage show. Loved Harry Potter and the cursed Child. We are Harry Potter fans in general, but neither of them had read the cursed child. It was a mesmerizing performance. Enjoy!! |
I saw the extended version in London. Agree that the visuals and special effects are great. Short version was developed to save audiences' time and money. I'm sure all the key effects are preserved. I saw Lion King for the first time last summer. It was a bucket list item for me. I thought the visuals were fantastic and of course by now I had heard lots about the design. I usually don't buy merch anywhere but I bought a Baby Simba Christmas ornament to remind me of the design aesthetic. |
Live in nyc with 14 and 12yo dds and we’ve seen almost everything. My 14 says -
Hell’s Kitchen if you or she like Alicia Keys at all. It’s also a great mother/daughter story Suffs - women’s suffrage and lots of fun Six Hamilton if you haven’t seen it Harry Potter for the special effects Outsiders (though she felt it was a bit boring) Wicked if you haven’t seen it Sweeney Todd if you like the show and Sondheim Merrily if you like Sondheim (& Daniel Radcliffe or Jonathan Groff) Both my daughter and I (and dh) hated &Juliet Moulin Rouge is eh |
Six for sure! |
Six
Wicked Hadestown My 14yo loved all of these |
I don’t know… I’m in my 40s and have seen a lot of Broadway & touring shows of different types, but I still think the visuals are great in The Lion King, and that Aladdin is a fun show. My 14 yo also enjoyed both of these. |
I saw & Juliet with my 16 year old over spring break. We both really enjoyed it. We've also seen Wicked, Hamilton, Harry Potter, Six - like them all.
Water for Elephants is on my list. |
I would not see Aladdin - saw that when my kids were like 8 |
