132 was 98th percentile.
135 was 99th percentile. The tails on a normally distributed curves are very thin so the 135-160 score is in the same percentile and you are essentially differentiating between 99.1% and 99.9% |

I am the PP and I may die on this hill. I do thing it’s pretty unhinged to talk about your kid getting a perfect on a test like the NNAT at the bus the day after results are released! I find it rude and arrogant and I hope you aren’t telling your kid their results. I am that kid who got those test scores, and I think my parents did me an enormous favor by not talking about it around the neighborhood. People who are readily sharing that info are unnecessarily competitive and lack social graces! |

HIGH SES here  What are you saying? That higher SES means HIGHER SCORES? Why are you guys talking about this amongst your neighborhood? The scores just got released! Is this normal to chat about test scores like this?
No, its not normal to openly talk about your perfect scores with your neighborhood buds.

We didn't discuss NNAT or CoGAT scores amongst our friends, probably because our school doesn't focus much on LIV, but there has been a lot of conversation around IAAT scores amongst family friends. And we know the kids discuss it because the Teacher sent home an email when the scores were sent home asking us to remind our kids not to discuss their scores. We discussed grades when I was in school in the 80's. Kids are doing the same thing today. Parents discussed SATs and other scores when I was a kid. It happens. It is pretty normal. |

People in this thread that don't talk about their kids scores IRL because it's impolite or in bad taste or whatever don't recognize their privilege. In all of history, those not in the in-crowd have traded "impolite" data to commiserate in their shared repression. This was true for wages of women and minorities, for job interview results of black and brown people, and for Test scores of Asian families who know that they need higher quants to overcome the biased qualitative selection processes.
Its partially an Asian tiger mom thing, but it's also a sharing-among-repressed people thing. |

I just want to know what the likelihood that my kid is going to share classes with his friends is. It played a role in deciding to stay at the base school or go to the Center. It would be nice to know if my kid will have math with friends. We know that their best friends were not accepted into LIV for 3rd grade and now 7th grade. The question now is if he will have any of his friends in math with him. |

| The reporting of scores could be stated clearer. We logged in to parentvue and saw Admin Date 4/4/2024 and Naglieri Ability Index 160. Initially I was debating with my spouse that was our son’s score or just FYI the test index is out of 160 with actual results pending. Then we received the percentile results on paper with 2 gray boxes with 160 and 99 Percentile Rank. Yes we know the maximum scores, now what was our kid’s test result? Then we saw the Raw Score 47 out of a maximum 48 questions answered correctly. |
