What to wear to appear attractive but not seem like you are trying?

Men like casual dresses a lot. They also don’t follow trends in women’s clothing so it doesn’t need to be trendy to get their attention. When I was dating, I wore a cotton button-down shirt-dress a ton. It wasn’t super tight but showed off my legs. Or a t-shirt dress in a fun color. Men also seem to like bright shoes, which could be a sneaker, sandal, or bootie depending on weather and the rest of the outfit.

No one will think it’s “weird” for you to look a little bit nicer than usual. People in general are worried about themselves.

Blowing out my hair and hoping my office colleagues just think I'm embracing the warm weather with some joie de vivre and don't realize I'm dressing up for our guest!

You have to let us know how it goes! However it turns out, I hope you feel beautiful and enjoy yourself :)

OP here and thank you all for encouraging me to wear a dress. I've gotten a ton of compliments today, and feeling like my best self around my crush, who I'm doing post-work drinks with later (with others as well, but still). So glad I get to do drinks in a cute dress instead of my usual jeans, which would be too hot today anyway!

Having a pretty swell Monday, thanks DCUM for the tips!

How did it go?

Clothes that fit. A more refined appearance.

+1 to getting a blowout.

Also, it seems like jeans are only flattering on people who have perfect bodies. So I always wonder why jeans are so popular?

In any case, I would up your shoe game. Nice sneakers are cute, but not particularly flattering. Maybe a nicer shoe or some cute boots?

OP, updates?
BTW, I cannot stand wearing jeans in weather above 80 degrees. I'm glad you wore a sundress!

OP here. It went well in that I had some fun conversations with him and we left on a good note, but nothing more than that (we socialized but only with other people from the office so it was very platonic). I'll see him again in another few months, at a conference. I'll probably post here to figure out what to wear to that too!

Just wear one of your favorite outfits for work. Or go buy a new one that’s still in the family of what you’d normally wear but more awesome

The black jersey dress sounds cute. I'm glad you're happy with how things went.

I agree that men DO like dresses. They act like they don't notice, but they do.
