Bikini bottom that covers my butt

Even though I'm thin, my butt must be big? A cheeky bathing suit is close to a thong on me and it cuts my cheeks in half very uncomfortably. I also don't think it's appropriate for taking the kids to the pool or beach.

Looking around at the pool, most people should not be wearing cheeky suits either. I'm not into body shaming, but I also don't want to see cellulite butts everywhere when they just could have chosen a wider suit bottom.

You are body shaming. People would raise hell if a guy said he didn’t want to see a cellulite butt. It’s no better coming from a woman. Cover your own if you want but leave others out of it.

I just got some Athleta swim shorts and love them!

I commiserate, OP. At age 40, I don’t feel like showing off my saggy, droopy butt at the community pool. And even if I had a great butt, I’d rather be doing active things with it than pulling fabric out of my crack all day long.

I’m all about body positivity, but this current cheeky trend isn’t doing most American girls or women any favors. It’s neither flattering on most bodies nor functional for most activities.

I saw that Lands End appears to be hopping on the cheek wagon too. At least they’ve kept one regular bottom with full coverage. As a parent and someone who likes to swim, I don’t want tons of slow drying fabric around my waist and legs. Skirts and shorts are not for me.

Sorry no. I also don't want to see pubic hair or topless women either. Not body shaming when I want private parts to stay private. And yeah, I include butt cheeks in that assessment.

Sorry, you're 10 years out of date. Society has spoken. Women's buttocks are no longer private parts. They've gone the way of the ankle.

Sorry no, ankles and buttocks are a false comparison

I am the person you are responding to. I was calling out OP’s reference about not wanting to see cellulite rather than making a statement on whether partial butt is closer to a boob or an ankle.

They did have some.cute swim shorts too. And some more full bottomed bathing suits, not just bottoms.

I hate the cheekiness too, when you get older than 30 you usually don't want a bathing suit riding up your butt.

Body shaming is appropriate in many cases. Shame plays a powerful role in enforcing societal norms.

I’m the OP and that wasn’t me who made a comment about cellulite. It doesn’t bother me to see it, I just don’t want to flaunt mine.

Thanks everyone for the links! I think one of my issues is that the trend has moved so far in the “cheeky” direction that even “full coverage” bottoms don’t fully cover my bottom.

I tried swim shorts last year and there were pros and cons. I think I’m going to try a swim skirt/skort this year. The more athletic looking ones look cute and practical and I think won’t make me feel like my mom or grandmother.

Um..the model's very small butt is hanging out.

So true. I don’t understand how this is full coverage. I’d be mortified having a conversation with the parents of my kids friends wearing that at the pool.

I do very much appreciate that ae left her stretch marks in the picture
