Yes, of course. Many kids do travel sports specifically so they can have a shot at making their high school team.

Loudoun Soccer has ruined the sport here. You can tell the players on the High School field that came up through Loudoun Soccer as all they do is kick it to the corner and try to catch up to the ball. Same old same old. No other strategy. No imagination.

That’s HS soccer. Our private pulls from all over the DMV with lots of MLS Next & ECNL players and the coaches still choose the kickball and size. The crowd loves it too. Some kid boots it far and they go wild. The more talented kids don’t see action and go back to club.

Unfortunately Lewis is almost at the bottom of the entire state on the girls side!

And it was a girl powerhouse back in the day! A lot is the demographics which changed drastically with zoning. Soccer is a white girl sport.

You’re an idiot.

Not. That poster speaks the truth. Other cultures don’t like women playing soccer. Some of just started to accept it. It’s why the US women dominated for so long. Our girls were playing travel club in the 1970s around here- many part of the first USWNT. Look at the Latino families —many only the sons play- not the daughters. Look at rosters

It’s not racist. It’s facts.

Other cultures don’t like women playing soccer? Can you site specific current examples of this? I’m so shocked and saddened to hear that the world’s Black, Asian and Hispanic women are prevented from playing soccer like those from your enlightened cultures.

Didn’t Spains women just win the World Cup?

I see Chantilly at the bottom of the list. Good job CYA and Valor! The feeders to Chantilly.

Valor 09B has players at Fairfax, Westfield, and Centreville. Maybe there’s someone at Chantilly too?

What exactly is all district selections? 1st and 2nd teams? Does it mean anything?

Where are all district and regional selections posted?

Not accurate because some teams lose so badly they don’t report scores but otherwise it is pretty accurate for the top teams.

Agree. My kid exclusively plays travel so that he can one day make the HS team! I don't think you can make the team if you don't play at the travel level. Only on DCUM is every kid who plays soccer gunning for a D1 slot or a chance in Europe... LOL.

You don't need to be in travel to make a HS team. The play is very low so if that's why you are doing travel, you can save a few thousand between now and HS.

McLean HS. One kid on JV was not on travel. No varsity player was not also in a club.

Almost every Varsity starter at McLean plays on an ECNL or MLSNext team and I believe that every other player is also a Club player - usually ECNL, MLSNext or the second team. No Rec players.

Probably more common to have some rec players at the non-rich-kid schools.

Lightridge girls beat Briar Woods last week. Referee didn't call the goal which is clearly a goal which decided the game in favor of Lightridge. Briar Woods scored goal in second overtime after tons of fouls and injured Lightridge players to win. Isn't HS soccer wonderful?

This looks to be the official website for NOVA league standings and district level tournaments (which is essentially a tournament for each league). I think the top four district tournament teams advance to Regionals and play against an opposing district’s top four teams. Regional tournaments look to be handled by VHSL/Maxpreps.
