Is it mother of pearl? If so, can you shower with it? I thought you had to be super gentle with MOP.

As if UMC can afford $10k on a necklace. Unless you mean DCUM UMC where HHI is upper 6 figure income.

For the money, I would prefer something more unique.

Not PP. But you don't need 6 figure income to be able to afford a 10k necklace. It is a very UMC necklace. Truly wealthy people don't wear cookie cutter pieces like the Alhambra.

So, if you make $80k a year, you have money to blow $10k on a necklace? Really?? Never said you have to be truly wealthy, but what crazy person will blow more than a tenth of their salary on a necklace?

That Channel bag I want is seeming so much less expensive now. I don’t think my wedding ring cost this much.

There are plenty of people who make 80k a year (or less) who make expensive branded jewelry a priority. I wouldn't do it, but it wouldn't make you a "crazy person" either.

I'm this PP ^^. I'll add that that the conversation was about whether or not UMC folks can afford a 10k necklace, and UMC is a hell of a lot more HHI than 80k around here. But yeah, there are folks who make 80k walking around in Cartier, Tiffany, VC, or whatever.

It's been around since the 60s and recently discovered by Americans. If you're looking for similar quality craftsmanship, check bulgari for colored stones (the best) and Boucheron.

I like the design, but can't imagine paying so much for jewelry.

I don't know what anything is and I know what the Alahambra line is. It's like a logo. In my mind it's like the grown up version of all that Tiffany's sterling silver that was popular in the 90s in that it's very recognizable. Same with those Cartier Love bangles. EVERYONE knows what that stuff is.

That said, if you really love it and can afford it, who cares?

My sister in law makes 95k a year. She has the Alhambra necklace, and bags from Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci to name a few. She drives a BMW. Meanwhile I make 250k a year and my husband makes 270k and I don’t own a single designer bag. I have spent 10k on a pearl necklace and on jewelry back home (I am middle eastern). We own one car and it’s a Honda pilot. We have three kids. She’s single with zero kids and lives with my MIL. Different people have different priorities.
