Schools that didn't make the list:
Columbia (maybe penalized for lying about its data) Bates Bowdoin Bucknell Colgate Davidson Denison Emory Georgetown Georgia Tech Grinnell Johns Hopkins Lafayette Lehigh Michigan Notre Dame Rice Smith Texas UVA UNC Vanderbilt Vassar |
Georgetown requires ALL scores. Every.single.student submits and is in the average. It's why LESS selective schools can have test scores similar because they have so many TO students and only the highest scorers are submitting--the 35-36ACT. Duh |
|
Once Columbia got caught cheating in providing its data (by one of its own math professors!), it opted not to participate anymore with US News and wouldn't share any data.
So that's why it isn't on the list. Who knows what Columbia's real SAT scores are because of their fraudulent behavior. |
Average can only be calculated if all scores are known. A median can't be converted to average as they are two different things. |
How did you arrive at that set of those that didn't make the list? |
Huh? How are posters expected to know what’s missing? What an odd suggestion. |
I think because they didn't make the cut of US News' supposedly proprietary list. So by default, any school listed other than the ones on the list, didn't make the cut, and presumably had a lower SAT average. |
Am I missing something? Boston College's SAT average is higher than Notre Dame's? Is that because Notre Dame has so many athletes that brings it scores down? |
it sounds like these schools didn’t participate in the survey. US News could have just taken the midpoint in which case most of these schools would have been on the list |
Last year's was even higher. I know two kids in class of 2027 that had 1560 and 1540. Very competitive admissions. |
We were told not to submit anything under a 35 ACT. My kid thankfully got a 35. |
So it's official...stronger students go to Boston College over Notre Dame. I guess that's the difference of being in Boston versus Indiana. It has taken a while, but BC should take pride. |
No Michigan... |
my kids are at a private in nyc and we have a few very top kids who throw in an app at BC every year because BC has a full ride, no-need, merit scholarship. Some get that and go there. Some get that and decide on HYP anyway, but it's a lot about finances for people who make good money but may be looking at 3 full pay kids in the pipeline. ND not so much on the radar here. I'm sure it is at the top Catholic HSs like regis and Marymount and Sacred Heart, but not ours. |
